The bad part of this is that a volunteer for 20 years has left his position due to irreconcilable differences. No idea why people on here want to use this as a point scoring mission about who was right and wrong about the club/board etc, its just a ridiculous state to get into when one of the involved parties has already said its not for the public domain. 42. Author: jake89 Date: Tue 19th Nov 2024. 22:06 Alter Ego, Tue 19 Nov 20:23 It`s a genuine question. I`ve not seen a thing on Facebook so I`m unaware of what the comments are. I`m not suggesting he`s given up for no reason but, given he`s been doing it 20 years, perhaps he`s just had enough? However, it sounds like comments have been made to suggest something bad has happened, which is why I`m asking what`s happened! No malice intended whatsoever. Reply |

45. Author: KirklistonPar Date: Wed 20th Nov 2024. 08:37 So sorry to hear David will no long be giving up his spare time to help all us Pars supporters. The shop just won’t be the same without him. Hope he is well and still manages to enjoy watching the Pars on a Saturday. Take care and all the best for the future David. Reply |
46. Author: LochgellyAlbert Date: Wed 20th Nov 2024. 10:59 At 80yrs of age it was time for David to put his feet up, maybe not in these circumstances though. Enjoy your retirement David, a pure gentleman!❤️🏁🏁🏁 Reply |
47. Author: ipswichpar Date: Wed 20th Nov 2024. 11:32 I`ve never met David but it`s great to see the appreciation from so many people on here to what he has given the club and fans. I hope he finds something else to keep him active and happy. And I hope that the situation has been managed appropriately by the club. Perm or voluntary, no matter what the circumstances, the ending of a role you love can be one of the biggest changes on somebody`s well being so there`s an onus on the organisation to deal with things sensitively and give people the respect they are due. With thanks to David! Post Edited (Wed 20 Nov 11:33) Reply |
48. Author: parathletic Date: Wed 20th Nov 2024. 11:46 I had the pleasure of working with David briefly in the ticket office when I was a student back in 2007. It was around the time of the Scottish Cup final, the Scott Thomson testimonial and us playing BK Hacken in Europe so it was particularly busy and David`s commitment to the cause was second to none. He actually became ill shortly afterwards possibly as a result of working too hard! Incredible that all these years later he was still there putting in a shift for the Pars. All the best David. 49. Author: grelin Date: Wed 20th Nov 2024. 11:58 I think it is unhelpful to make unsubstantiated claims or speculate as to what might have occurred. It is in essence a private matter between David and the club. However I must say that he was a great first point of contact for the club and an absolute gentleman, so as a supporter I am concerned that such a loyal servant and stalwart has left in circumstances `which is between him and the club`, if true, tends to indicate a differing of opinions. If the club could be perceived as a contributing factor to his departure and providing they are not betraying a confidence, maybe they might consider a brief statement thanking David for his service and give an indication as to the reason for him leaving which would hopefully end this distasteful speculation. 50. Author: jake89 Date: Wed 20th Nov 2024. 13:01 It seems to me that no-one should have said anything if it wasn`t going to be explained. The result is this thread filled with all sorts of speculation, which is unhelpful to both David and the club. I think I met David once when picking up copies of the Pars book and he was very pleasant so it`ll be sad to see him go but hopefully whoever replaces him can show the same dedication he clearly has over the past 20 years. 56. Author: cammypar 1995 Date: Thu 21st Nov 2024. 08:10 Alter Ego, Wed 20 Nov 19:02 w All we kept on hearing from cook and co were "we will improve the match day experience". The match day experience (football aside) is horrid at eep.as mentioned above legends and Charlie D`s both not improved if anything got worse. The club kit provider errea is low quality definitely worse than joma. Hospitality has been poor and overpriced for the quality of the product for years although probably worse if Margret wasn`t in charge. The club really is hitting new lows at the moment and that isn`t even touching the football side of the operation. c'mon the pars Reply |
57. Author: da_no_1 Date: Thu 21st Nov 2024. 08:59 I quite like the "match day experience" at EEP. I rock up at 2.30 with my sons and take our seats to watch Scottish Championship football, whilst getting a blether with folk i only see at the Pars. I know what I signed up for so I`m not that disappointed when it ends badly at 5pm. I move on quickly to the next game. I was at hospitality last season. It was a fantastic day out. It always has been IMHO. I`ve been to Legends and met Pars pals for a pint. It`s alright as far as pubs go. Been in far worse pubs. I`ve got the new away top. It`s really smart and hasn`t disintegrated in the wash (yet) I try to eat at normal times every day so tend not to need anything at 3pm except maybe the odd cup of tea. The catering doesn`t interest me to be fair. I`m not fussed for the "match day experience" but each to their own. "Some days will stay a 1000 years, some pass like the flash of a spark" Reply |
58. Author: wee eck Date: Thu 21st Nov 2024. 09:09 I remember the club doing a survey of fans when Yorkie was in charge, asking them how they could improve the `matchday experience`. My answer now would be the same as it was then - `more goals`. Reply |
59. Author: Dave_1885 Date: Thu 21st Nov 2024. 09:24 My main irk with the club now is the inefficiency for the prices you pay. Heres my normal match day experience - Park up about 2:30pm just off Garvock Hill for a 2 min walk to ground - best bit of the day 😂 Decent sized queue for turnstiles to the Norrie because the club haven’t opened them all and when it comes to a big game can be there for 15-20 minutes - it took them till 5 minutes till KO v Falkirk to realise there was still 1000 people outside the gates…… Then can have issues with scanners at times - generally I get in fine, but others cause delays. Understandable but annoying. Get in and join the food queue - another 10 minute wait as only 2 servers then receive really poor food at a massive mark up - due to other commitments its normally easier to eat at the ground. Watch a half of football (normally poor these days) next to a pillar with a hole in it and avoiding water drops from a leaking roof 😃 Half time pee stop - toilets reeking of smoke or p!!sh then get soaked with freezing cold water from taps that are far too pressurised and lucky to get paper towels to dry hands. Watch another half of football - normally during this time work out that £22 is not value for money and then decide if Im going to demand McPakes head or not result depending 😃 normally these days its just a sigh of disappointment and working out when next putting myself through it. Leave ground and hope someone has closed the road off so dont get killed by a bus like what happened last year 😃 Take 45 minutes to get home then usually tell my mates I wont be back any time soon! All in all, for the money paid, and the time out of the house its a meh experience. It would be made a lot better by certain changes, but they wont happen, so just pick and choose when I go these days based on my family life. Post Edited (Thu 21 Nov 09:27) Reply |
