Quite a few issues that went on that clearly the club aren’t going to put into the public domain. Damned if they do and damned if they don’t but far easier for people to jump on the bandwagon.

“I was the face of Dunfermline because I was the person that people saw when they came in to the shop."

When this story first came to light, I was well behind David and pretty angry at the club, but having read the article and this quote in particular, it is making me stop, and think, that there is two sides to every story.

You do have to thank him for two decades of voluntary service to the club, that`s very commendable. I had been in the shop many times over the years and in the most part he performed to an adequate standard for a volunteer.

Can he say "I was the face of Dunfermline". To me, this statement sets off alarm bells, this hints at a sense of ego and entitlement. If that`s the attitude he had, maybe he didn`t like being called out on it

I also was supporting David until he said he was the face of Dunfermline .
full respect for his 20 years service to the club ,as others say there are always two sides to the story .

Not sure what folk are expecting the club to say?

"He`s a liar and it`s all his fault"?

"Yes, we are a bunch of arrogant tossers who trample over the little guy"?

They were totally between a rock and a hard place, and the people unhappy with the statement seem to be looking for a reason to have a go at the board and David Cook in particular.

This seems to be another case where a football club is seen differently from any other business. Fans feel they are entitled to know all the facts relating to a member of staff leaving and the lack of detail feeds the rumour mill. Everyone agrees David did a great job in the club shop but, having said it was a matter between him and the club, why give a statement to the Dunfermline Press? That put the club in an awkward position and they obviously felt they had to respond.

The club could have said that we have no comment to make in regards to this situation

I`m not sure a `no comment` response would have gone down well either.

I don`t think the face of Dunfermline is an arrogant statement.

I think he was saying he was the face Pars Fans seen when going into the shop and he was always conscious of the fact he was representing the club and his actions will leave an impression on fans.

All credit to David he did represent the club very well over the years and was a helpful and friendly face of Dunfermline as was the guy Matt who worked in the shop previously.

What an absolute nonsense this has become. At a time where the club needs to all be pulling in the right direction as well.

David clearly feels hard done by, but why do we all take that as gospel? Because he said it so it must be true? The comments he made in the Dunfermline Press are quite concerning to me, he is the face of DAFC? Not Norrie McCathie, Jim Leishman, or Bene as the club captain? He was a volunteer in the club shop, maybe we stop treating him as some god. It`s embarrassing.

David, without a doubt, has done a great amount of work over the years and was subject to more thanks than any of the other volunteers seem to have been. How many volunteers got trips on the team bus to games and board room experiences? Never mind all the different `Laming` shirts he`s holding up in his DP article.

Now, he has dragged the clubs name through the mud this past week (inadvertently or otherwise). The fact this has been going on all week is ridiculous in itself. All whilst we are trying to sell the club, how do we think potential buyers will look at this? `The face of Dunfermline` speaking to the press to effectively say how great he was and how bad the club is. Great.

But then again, .net is devoid of any critical thinking skills and love to jump to just bash the club.

Miss the days of going across from Alloa with birthday or Christmas money to spend when it was in the shopping centre.

Used to be a Rovers fan (or was it Falkirk?) who was the manager and would always get a good bit of banter with him, pretty close to the bone but i loved it and he was always very helpful.

As many have repeated here I found David very courteous and pleasant to deal with.

As with respect to the "face of Dunfermline" that is a line often used in the corporate world to a receptionist, greeter or doormen. They are the first face the public sees and are the first impression anyone has of the business. He was the face of the business in that respect.

It is a lot easier to leave a role that you are doing voluntary than one that is keeping a roof over your head and you might feel more resentful of a dismissive or rude comment in a job you are not getting paid for.

I wish David well and thank him for his service over the years and hope the club can find an adequate replacement that shares some of David`s obvious enthusiasm and charm.

It wouldn’t surprise me the quote “face of Dunfermline “ will be taken out of context.
Face of the shop undoubtedly.

Aye, David definitely thought he was more important than Norrie. Undoubtedly.

He was the `face` most fans dealt with due to his role. That`s all he`s said, and he`s not wrong. That doesn`t mean he`s more important than anyone else, but he didn`t say he was. And you know that.

I would agree with that, DBA. Quite possibly been misquoted or something without context?

The club is #hit show from top to bottom, from the playing side to the corporate, how folk can in anyway take the clubs side on this is incredulous .
All the club had to do is thank David for his service to the club, no snide remark was required.
Totally lacking class from the club .
