This was the complaint for the Falkirk one. Was it Chic Charnley that scored a quick free kick against us for Hibs? My hazy recollection was that the ref was moving the wall back at the time but allowed it to stand despite protests. Post Edited (Mon 24 Nov 21:53) Reply |

How often are the team taking the free kick told to wait for the referee`s whistle before kicking the ball? Just another example of the inconsistency in applying the Laws of the Game" There is no requirement for a free kick to be delayed for the referee whistle if he opts to allow the advantage of it being taken quickly. No inconsistency allowing advantage where it punishes the offending side. A different matter of course if the kick is not taken from where the infringement occurred - but that`s a separate issue. Older fans may remember the 5-6 loss to Hibs at EEP in the mid 1960s......they got a late free kick, taken very quickly and went on to score the winner. Reply |

Also some refs automatically indicate its to the whistle if its within a certain distance just to avoid the `Henry` goal a few years back. But I am sure, if its in the right place and the ref doesnt need to halt the play, that a restart is entirely in the control of the fouled team. Reply |
