I’ve been reading stories from Everton fans today ~ “Just arrived at my parents having driven from Devon before heading to Goodison tonight. I`ve been going since the 70s and my dad who is 87 since the early 50s when he`d go to Goodison one week and Anfield the next with his red pal. There`s been loads of wonderful Goodison derbies but mid week under the lights, well, there`s nothing like it - and I`ve seen football all over the world. But the 4-4 in 1989 when I used to travel back from Uni and stood with my dad on the Gwaldys Street was both electric and crazy. So that`s the best....until tonight! It will be very emotional.” I know how we’d feel if EEP went the same way but this is going to be huge for the Toffees, tonight and going forward despite having a shiny new stadium to go to. | 2. Author: wee eck Date: Wed 12th Feb 2025. 18:28 It`s not the last game at Goodison tonight is it - just the last derby there? Is the rivalry between Everton and Liverpool friendlier than other major city rivalries? I`ve always wondered. Liverpool have obviously had the upper hand in recent years but I remember when they were in the second tier and Everton were the `Bank of England` club with the big expenditure - as they were when we beat them. | 3. Author: wetherby Date: Wed 12th Feb 2025. 20:23 Have a good mate who is a Liverpool lad has had a season ticket in the past and I asked him that very question about the nature of the rivalry. He said thst in the past it was friendly but the atmosphere had changed over the years to be a bit more edgy and he had heard of trouble frequently more recently. Reply |

Author: saltonsgonagetu Date: Wed 12th Feb 2025. 22:10 There was a bit on breakfast tv saying Everton had a bit spare ground at their training ground , and decided to have wild flowers on it , then red ones started to come through , they were going to remove the red ones, but decided to keep them to 97 red flowers in the bed , in remembrance of Hillsborough, and keep them to 97 now . So glad the dirty reds didn`t win the last derby - the new stadium looks absolutely stonking. Just gutted that it looks like I probably won`t get 1 last visit to the Grand Old Lady but really chuffed with that tonight. UTFT 👏🏼😎💙 Oh and Hillsborough - Everton have ALWAYS stood shoulder to shoulder with our friends across the park. We played in the other semi final and it could easily have been the blue half in Sheffield that day. April 15th is the ONLY day I`m more red than blue - YNWA RIP97💙💜❤️ COME ON YE PARS!
