But back to the point the OP was making what benefit do we get having a centre half rolling the ball 2-3 yards to the keeper from a goal kick. c'mon the pars Reply |

If the opposition press, the goalkeeper can still launch it long (now to a player in more space). If they don`t press, he can make a short pass to get things going. Reply |

Author: cammypar 1995 Date: Sun 16th Feb 2025. 11:03 7 Eleven, Sun 16 Feb 09:59 First goal against Airdrie sticks in my mind comrie passes back the way to foggarty who passes is back to him and get it`s again he tries to pass it to Todd which was never on Todd turns into trouble they break and we fail to clear the danger and they score after Tobi makes a decent save. Instead of comrie looking forward and knocking it into the channel. We have had times where we have been well inside the opposite half and 3 passes later it`s back with Tobi. we can hurt teams getting the ball into kane and have runners in behind but we don`t seem to fancy playing direct. c'mon the pars Reply |

Apart from anything it blunts every attack we make because by the time we eventually get the ball over the half way line the opposition are in their shape and organised. We never catch teams on the break because we don’t get the ball forward quickly enough. This is why create so few chances. Reply |

Author: kelty_par Date: Sun 16th Feb 2025. 16:42 Yeah, playing out from the back is fine if we get it forward quickly either through the lines or over the top, but when the players end up getting further and further back and the goalkeeper ends up on his own goal line trying to control a ball and find an out ball it isn`t a good plan. It’s designed to draw the opposition forward to make more space but it only works with the right players which we don’t have. I’ve always believed a team should play to its potential and I’d say ours is better suited to more route one football. It’s ugly but we have a keeper that can kick a ball 3/4 of the park with ease and players like McCann and Kane who can win in the air. The time for pretty football is not when we’re second bottom. Author: RossDAFC Date: Mon 17th Feb 2025. 03:07 The idea is that if the GK plays to the RCB, the opposing striker can begin to lock off the right hand side with his press whereas if the CB plays it to the GK, the opposing striker needs to wait until the ball is redistributed to begin his press. Again, in theory, it makes playing out from the back less predictable. Using the keeper as a third centre back creates a 3v1 against most teams or a 3v2 against teams with 2 strikers. Reply |
