1. Author: widtink Date: Mon 17th Feb 2025. 21:58 I`m not a fan of these relatively new start stop penalties that most of the players tend to do these days and I wish they would adjust the rules to rid us of these kind of penalties. Once you start your run up to strike the ball you should have to do so in one movement. None of this nonsense that is abundant in today`s game . Discuss 🤔 Admin ![]() Reply |
2. Author: Dave_1885 Date: Mon 17th Feb 2025. 22:32 Agreed - it used to be the case that any stop in the run up was against the rules, but now it seems a free for all. Should be that once you start forward movement you must keep moving. Make it more interesting - every time you stutter, the keeper can take a step forward……. Reply |

4. Author: cammypar 1995 Date: Tue 18th Feb 2025. 06:36 I was always under the impression you weren`t allowed to stop during your run up so I looked it up and found this. " A penalty taker is allowed to stutter or pause in their run-up, but they cannot feint or stop at the end of the run-up before striking the ball". c'mon the pars Reply |
5. Author: Bandy Date: Tue 18th Feb 2025. 09:15 Another thoroughly unintelligible wording from ifab. I have no idea how to interpret that. By my reading the Jorginho `hop` immediately before he strikes it shouldn`t be allowed, but that seems all fine. Reply |
6. Author: jojo Date: Tue 18th Feb 2025. 11:51 Current rules give penalty taker unfair advantage . Should be if taker stops or delays run up with a hop or a stutter the keeper should be allowed both feet off his line or some thing like that to even up . Reply |
7. Author: twin par Date: Tue 18th Feb 2025. 12:34 The penalty should be taken, with a clear and steady run up.This dancing around is just nonsense. It`s unfair on the keepers. Reply |
8. Author: wulliepar57 Date: Tue 18th Feb 2025. 12:36 Well for me it shouldn`t matter how the person taking the penalty takes it It`s a penalty it`s because there has been some infringement of the rules so why should the goalie get any help to save it ? What if it was a pars player chopped down inside the box with a clear goal scoring opportunity, do you want their keeper to get any advantage of saving it ? Not for me Reply |
9. Author: Luxembourg Par Date: Tue 18th Feb 2025. 12:44 As long as it’s consistant. Allow it /don’t allow it - whatever, just make everyone stick to the same rule. ![]() Reply |
10. Author: Bandy Date: Tue 18th Feb 2025. 14:31 How about a change in the rule - the moment the taker starts their run up the keeper can come off their line. Much easier to enforce and would stop the faffing about. Would also reduce the number of penalties scored which, in my opinion, is a good thing - rarely does the punishment of basically a guaranteed goal match the crime. This, in turn, should reduce the amount of diving in the box, given the reduced reward. Reply |
11. Author: Bletchley_Par Date: Tue 18th Feb 2025. 15:53 Effin hate these penalties. I recall John Aldridge getting quite a bit of stick for his feign mis-step during the run-up which I think at some point was banned? Anyway, aye straight run-up no fannying about would improve our game. ![]() Reply |

14. Author: onandupthepars Date: Tue 18th Feb 2025. 21:03 I think both the penalty taker and goalie should be blindfolded. And mibby turn them round and round so they`re baith dizzy. Reply |
15. Author: PARrot Date: Wed 19th Feb 2025. 03:50 I recon if a player had an open goal or just the keeper to beat or if a deliberate hand ball stopped a goal, there should be no penalty taken. Just award a penalty goal. That might stop a few professional fouls. ![]() Reply |
