1. Author: CitizenPar Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 10:19 He may not be the top scorer in the league, but is Chris Kane the best all round striker/centre forward in the Championship? He`s the type of player St Johnstone could do with now. Their loss is very much our gain! Post Edited (Sun 13 Apr 10:25) Reply |
2. Author: Dandy Warhol Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 10:52 Yeah but the fitness issue still needs addressed for next season, we need quality up front that can play a few games in a row imo. I don`t wanna go down like disco. Reply |
3. Author: king lad Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 10:58 Brian Graham for me is still the best finisher in this division, but in terms of all round play it`s probably between Kane, Oakley and Shaw. Hopefully we stay up for next season and can reinforce the striker position with a couple of quality options so we aren`t so reliant on him being the only goalscorer at the club Reply |
4. Author: parathletic Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 11:07 Kane has been vital for us especially with very limited service at times. It would be great if he could get a trouble free pre-season and he will get even more goals next season when hopefully we will be playing on the front foot a bit more. We still need to be chipping in with more from other areas. McKenzie Kirk seems to be doing well in a struggling team at St Johnstone. He has 7 PL goals already this season(Kane`s best in his 10+ seasons was 5) I haven`t seen much of him but I thought he was worth a look when he was banging in the goals in the Lowland League. He was written off on here for the level he was playing at. It shows talent can be found at the lower levels? Reply |
5. Author: Higgys Mohawk Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 11:08 The relief when you see his name on the team sheet. Every week I scroll past every name looking for him. Lennon summed it up when he described him as talismanic. Reply |

7. Author: cammypar 1995 Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 11:43 Kane is important to us as it drastically improves our chances of winning as he is our only goal threat. If we can`t get any more games out of him next season we definitely need to address that in the summer. c'mon the pars Reply |
8. Author: Jeffery Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 12:18 Copilot (so likely inaccurate) had this to say on us with and without Kane... Dunfermline currently has 33 points in the Championship, so let`s correct the breakdown properly. - With Chris Kane: Dunfermline has played 25 matches, earning 27 points. - Without Chris Kane: In the 8 matches without him, Dunfermline has picked up 6 points. This should now align correctly with their total points this season. Kane has undoubtedly played a vital role, but it`s clear the team has struggled overall, whether he`s in the lineup or not. So 1.08 PPG with, and 0.75 PPG without. Without him across the season we`d be bottom. Reply |
9. Author: buffy Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 14:00 Surely with him being the type of player to get free kicks etc then his injuries are consistent with him going to ground? Ie if he is always sliding etc. Unless he’s injury prone for other reasons? ”Buffy’s Buns are the finest in Fife”, J. Spence 2019” Reply |
10. Author: wee eck Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 14:15 His `injury proneness` seems to relate to an issue with his calves but, inevitably, every injury he suffers seems to be attributed to his `injury proneness`. As you say, buffy, a physical player like him is always going to get knocks and bruises. Reply |
11. Author: AveragePar Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 14:55 The way he races across the defenders to press it’s no wonder he struggles with calf issues. One of the hardest workers in our squad. Lennon will work him hard to stay fit if he stays past the summer. Definite keep Reply |
12. Author: Athletico Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 15:23 It was no secret that Kane would not play every game when we signed him, he needs to be carefully managed. However he is the best striker in the division, no doubt about it. If he was at Ayr, Falkirk or Livi he would be miles ahead in the scoring charts Reply |
13. Author: neils Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 16:27 He`s undoubtedly the best all round striker in the Championship. If he didn`t have persistent long term injury problems he is an established top flight striker comfortably. This is the reason he is playing for us, we are lucky to have him, and, yes he has to be carefully managed, if we get 25+ games a season it`s a bonus. Reply |
14. Author: Berry Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 16:32 I’d keep him off the training pitch to be honest, he’s that important for the run in. Reply |
15. Author: cammypar 1995 Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 17:56 Athletico, Sun 13 Apr 15:23 That`s exactly why he isn`t at Ayr, Falkirk or livi as he misses too many games. We have him signed for next year I believe but we definitely need to have a striker to play either alongside him or as a replacement that can chip in with more goals as when kane doesn`t play we don`t look like a team that will score goals. We have only scored 5 goals when he hasn`t played. c'mon the pars Reply |

17. Author: Ahoy!Ahoy! Date: Sun 13th Apr 2025. 18:09 Next year we’ll have Connor Young and Chris Kane, Wighton is out of contract and will be gone. Sutherland could do with a full season out on loan. I’d like to see us bring in a couple of strikers who have championship experience, Wilson at Airdrie knows where the goals are as does Oli Shaw at Hamilton. We need 3 or 4 quality strikers at the club whereas at the moment we have just Kane. Reply |
