I never rated Lenton as a player, but he has grown on me as a manager

Holding midfielders often get overlooked, unfairly in my opinion. He was an excellent player.
Gary Mason’s importance to our team was not fully appreciated by some.

Always thought Stuart McCall was a great player too.

Lennon was excellent in the role he played at Celtic.

At one point Partick were really getting on top in the second half but bringing on the 3 subs at one time stopped that. The opposing managers all talk about and know him being in the opposing dugout is a big factor. Some coup for Dunfermline if they can get him signed up on a longer deal..

While not flashy and under-appreciated Lennon for me was a great player - always working to make himself available to receive the ball and then to give it to the creative players. Also fiercely competitive with it.

I don`t disagree VEE. I find it interesting that Lennon `earned` the reputation as a very dislikeable player and to some extent the same as a manager in the eyes of opposition fans. He was a real enforcer; kicking, biting, scratching and seemed willing to do anything to stop the opposition. Much more so than others of his time apart from maybe Hurlock at Rangers. I remember thinking that both of them seemed a bit neanderthal.
When you listen to him speak now, he comes across as confident, intelligent guy who demands respect but is clearly knowledgeable and seems to understand man management.

I`m just as interested with the manager`s interviews as I am the highlights.

I think we have our man.

I agree, we have our man, now bar possibly 2 or 3 players just a new full squad and we can look forward to next season.

As has been proven over the past 5 games not even Lennon could get this mob into the top 4.

Personally I`d say defence is reasonable. Midfield could do a few Additions but definitely need a couple of strikers in

Cmon ye pars

Defence is okay the now but Comrie is out of contract, Fogarty is still under contract at Birmingham and highly thought of, Bene isn’t getting any younger and has this court case hanging over him and Raymond’s loan is up.

Currently that leaves us with Mullen as centre half and Ngwenya at LWB, Bray could be used as RWB but I’d expect a raft of changes.

As it stands, I believe, we only have Otoo and Todd signed up for next season in midfield and that’s an area we have been weak in for years IMO. That need addressed massively.

As for up form that doesn’t need any explanation we simply need a better choice of strikers.

Hopefully Lennon will sign up Oluwayemi and Chikloa-Mullen, then some of those under contact might be able to fill squad places, might be able to offload some, like Benedictus and Fisher if their court case goes badly for them
Just need to fill in the blanks on this squad, with some real strength, experience and quality, in Lennon`s favoured 3-5-2.
GK. Oluwayemi
CB. Chikloa-Mullen

RWB. Bray

CF. McCann
Not sure if these two are under contract

Agree with Blethcley and da_no_1 about the interviews. Never used to bother listening to McPake or Tidser unless it was before or after a big game but I do enjoy hearing Lennon speak.

When I listened to the interviews when Lennon was announced, I got the impression that he was in no doubt as to what the squad was like and what the plans were moving forward if we could stay up. Lennon could see there was a core of players he could work with and was confident that he could achieve the aim with them…..and to be fair, he has achieved it.

So, he’ll know exactly what is required and he’ll also know he’ll have the backing to do it. 1 or 2 players, he’ll probably have been surprised by….Clay maybe….but in general, his mind will already be made up and I’ll be stunned if he (or his people) has not already had initial talks or enquiries with players/agents for next season.

The ball will already be moving in recruitment areas and I’m convinced it’ll be a complete overall haul. With the exception of maybe Mullen and Kane, I would be stunned if any of the current squad start in the opening game of next season. Players under contract, might be squad fillers but unless there’s improvement, I can’t see any of them being first picks.

The phase 1 of Lennon’s tenure has gone well. He told us it wouldn’t be pretty, and it’s not been. The Hamilton deduction has obviously been a huge help, but I don’t believe for 1 minute that a guy like this and with the reputation he has, is going to stand by a lot of the current players.

It’s exciting times, just got to get the next 3-4 weeks out the way and get the popcorn out and get the cash for the season ticket renewals I suppose

What about Taylor Sutherland
Jake Sutherland who was scoring goals for Cowdenbeath ( I think Jake is out of contract in may )

He has come in at a time when it looked likely that we were heading for 10th place and Airdrie were catching-up.

He has steered us to 7th at just the right time as we scrap for every point so late in the season.

Albeit that Hamilton were deducted 15pts for cheating is irrespective as we would have been sitting in 8th spot and hounding Hamilton in the last two games.

He has saved our bacon

I would imagine that him signing a new contract will be announced when the season tickets go on sale.

Exciting time ahead and I would think we will sell a record amount of season tickets.

Think you’re right and why not? The club have never appointed a manager of his stature in my lifetime.
