I always thought it would be free to be a mascot, some sort of lottery or letters sent to the club `hi,its my wee girl`s birthday soon, can she be a mascot please`.

I really hope Dunfermline don`t charge,I`d be very disappointed in them. I know some clubs need all the money they can get just to keep the lights on, but mascot kids should always be free imo.

As for the EPL clubs, shame on you.

Most teams in our league charge for being a mascot. Raith has done this for a long time.

Our mascots are run by the young pars.

I’m sure when I last looked into it for my son Pars charged so I didn’t bother although official website states free so maybe used to or maybe I picked up wrongly previously

My daughter was mascot against the lino lickers last season and was selected because she`s in The Young Pars. There was no fee.
I`d be disappointed if they started to charge but that`s football these days I guess.

Fans sponsor players and their strips. Perhaps we could trial sponsoring of mascots to help raise revenue while keeping this free for those who can’t really afford paying for this. It will be such a great day for any kid who is a mascot and can help cement life long support for the Pars.

That would be a great initiative RhinoPars, perhaps a small committee could be formed from amongst those sponsors, to select the deserving individuals for mascot duties?

Leave it as is, Join the Young Pars , this gives you the chance to be a mascot, and ball boys/girls.

A lot to be said for this approach.

Raith charge £65 (£60 for season ticket holders)

"This package includes a match ticket for the mascot and two adults, a unique Rovers T-shirt, a goody bag, a pre-match ground tour, a kick around with Roary Rover, leading the teams out for the kick-off, a photo with the captain, and automatic membership into the Official Raith Rovers Supporters Club."

Make it possible for every young pars fan ,putting a price on being a mascot will eliminate many who cant afford this .

The Raith charge is fine when you consider what else is getting thrown in.

The young pars back in my day was unreal. You got regular nights bowling, quizzes etc with the players which in those days included internationalists. The players never seemed like they were forced to go with Dempsey, Byrne and Hunt "delighted to get away from the flat for a few hours". Nothing was a bother to the players and it was always very well organised. I loved it.

Helen, jean and Christine did a great job in running it and keeping younger fans interested in their local club and giving the access to the players that you`d struggle to get anywhere else especially back in those days probably struggle to get it now.

c'mon the pars

If you’re genuinely interested in what the Pars foundation and the Young Pars do for our youngsters then check out their social media channels including Facebook. Photos and events galore with players.

The Young Pars POTY bowling night is tonight. My daughter is sitting here all ready to go and can`t wait to get there and meet the players. Last year she was absolutely made up to be asked to present Ewan Otoo`s POTY trophy.

There`s been a changing of the guard and it`s a new team running the Young Pars these days but they are doing an equally fantastic job and all my 3 kids (oldest has just turned 21!) have great memories of the parties and Sammy`s antics at them.
