Any chance you fancy answering my question on why you think this season was some kind of "achievement," bearing in mind the facts I already laid out? Because for me and probably a majority of our fan base scraping the bare minimum, bottling big moments, and calling it "progress" just doesn`t wash anymore. c'mon the pars Reply |
22. Author: Jock Par36 Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 19:33 A club such as ours, should not be fighting against relegation. We have one of the best supported teams in Scotland, and with hopefully Lennon still here and getting in some decent players, this scenario will not happen next season. Reply |
23. Author: wee eck Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 19:35 I thought I`d done that in my posts. It`s all relative. I would have thought, for someone who thinks we have a squad who are predominantly League 1 level, finishing 7th in the Championship was an `achievement`. Reply |

25. Author: cammypar 1995 Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 19:50 wee eck, Sun 4 May 19:35 We`re the lowest scoring team in Scotland and we`ve ended up with fewer points and a worse league position than last year. It’s hard to find positives in that. If anyone sees this as progress or an achievement then I genuinely struggle to understand the reasoning." c'mon the pars Reply |
26. Author: kozmasrightfoot Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 20:00 How about just accepting this season for the disaster that it was (even though we survived) and look forward to next season? Sounds like a good idea to me. Pars fan. Magpies fan. Mens tennis fan. Alternative rock fan. Not a fan of much else. Reply |
27. Author: cammypar 1995 Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 20:08 kozmasrightfoot, Sun 4 May 20:00 Absolutely we can`t be much worse next year and Lennon will know the areas he needs to strengthen. I am flabbergasted how anyone can come to the conclusion that the season was an achievement though. c'mon the pars Reply |
28. Author: da_no_1 Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 20:28 It was a disaster. Last season was only marginally better. It`s actually pretty funny that we finished 7th and will receive £212,000 "prize money" Time to let it go. It`s done. "Some days will stay a 1000 years, some pass like the flash of a spark" Reply |
29. Author: Rusty Shackleford Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 20:48 It`s been a dreadful season with few highlights and we need to move on, sharpish. But there is a wider point about wallowing in misery. Big chunk of folk had us losing league 1 to Falkirk. Then relegated last year. Then absolutely definitely being caught by Airdrie. None of these things happened. Maybe, just maybe it`s a waste of time assuming the worst all the time. Reply |
30. Author: AdamAntsParsStripe Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 20:59 cammypar 1995, Sun 4 May 20:08 Most certainly not an achievement in the slightest. Reminded me of the depressive Jocky Scott years. Pars fans were always brought up on our team at least having a go at the opposition regardless of the results. This last season has seen us set up just not to lose and no answer when we went a goal or two down. Tippy tappy p1sh from the back with a very weak midfield devoid of ideas how to open up defences. We can only get better now and look forward to a title challenge within 2 seasons max. Zwei Pints Bier und ein Päckchen Chips bitte ![]() Reply |
31. Author: RossF Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 21:46 Absolute disaster of a season and a miracle we managed to survive. It’s a relief that Airdrie had their injury problems for the majority of the season, Queen’s Park had a major collapse and Hamilton cheated! GMBC badly let us down and the lack of investment in the summer made many fear the worst. The sad thing is, if we had invested wisely, we could well have been challenging near the top - as the league quality was ridiculously poor this season. The good news is we won’t see the majority of the players at our club again and we can hopefully come back stronger next season. I say ‘hopefully’ as I’ve got my hopes up far too many times only to be let down! Reply |

33. Author: PARrot Date: Sun 4th May 2025. 22:55 Achievements? Lets be as positive as we can. Position: very poor Performance: poor Entertainment: dire Anything actually positive: We got rid of a board that few were in tune with, and appear to have an exciting, forward thinking, ambitious board in charge.. We are finally able to spend money and it looks like we may be able to put a much more competative squad together for next season. We attracted one of the top managers in Scottish football. We may be able to hold on to him for a wee while As a result, we shifted from almost certain relegation to finishing 7th, and crowds have started increasing despite not scoring any goals. I would say the club has achieved a lot that is positive thos year, Lets focus on the fish and bin the bones. Reply |

35. Author: Never10yairds Date: Mon 5th May 2025. 19:35 Times are indeed strange when I find myself agreeing with Parrot. I’ve been a very negative poster on here for some years now, but let us be honest, I was right to be. We have been miles off where we should be since the day Peter grant set foot in the door. I find myself cautiously optimistic about the future of the club though. We have a board who are making all the right noises, compared to the previous regime who I found to be dangerously naive about the harsh realities of Scottish football. In Neil Lennon we have a manager far superior to anyone else who has been in the post for a very long time. Excited to see how the summer unfolds. Reply |

37. Author: neils Date: Mon 5th May 2025. 20:43 Spot on Parrot. That`s the truth! I fully expect next season to be a big adjustment (basically a new squad, some will work, others maybe not) but we are definitely going the right way. Neil Lennon is a massive statement of intent, and he`s really worked at it this season, next season the league as always will be hugely competitive, but we will be more professional, with better players. I’m struggling badly to think of a worse season I’ve had to suffer - and there have been more than a few in that category. Yet some punters are reluctant to accept league tables as a true record 🙄 Reply |
39. Author: Par-timer Date: Tue 6th May 2025. 18:31 Going back on topic, the biggest beneficiaries were obviously Airdrie, who start their play-off campaign tonight. Hard to believe they only had six points (from 20 games) when we played them back in January. Even more unbelievably, the other beneficiaries, Queen’s Park already had twenty-nine points at that stage, yet Airdrie nearly caught them. Even allowing for “the Hamilton effect”, it’ll be some escape if they end up in the Championship again next season. Reply |
40. Author: wee eck Date: Tue 6th May 2025. 18:59 vee, if you look back in the thread I think you`ll find you were the first poster to use the term `achievement` although I`m sure you were using it ironically. It then was weaponised against those of us who suggested our finishing position was a lot better than looked likely at various times during the season. As for `the table doesn`t lie` you are probably the biggest advocate of this mantra when things are at their lowest but you seem to have abandoned it now that we finished 7th. As for the worst season I think we all tend to think of the most recent bad one as the worst but I doubt that the stats would support that. I seem to remember one season when we were the 5th worst team in Scotland! Reply |
