It all seems a tad complicated to me, but a change of format can surely only be good, in addition to an increased prize money pot.

It’s made complicated as it’s more of this tournament engineering BS! The top seed will play one of the bottom 2 seeds etc! It’s just a terrible way of doing things! Bring back everyone in a pot and let fate decide!

Positives - increased prize money, teams won`t play just one game in August and get knocked out.

Negatives - continued presence of B teams, hundreds of games just to eliminate 8 teams, increased number of midweek games for part time teams at the start of the season could lead to more injuries etc, travelling costs even when refionalosed (e.g. Stranraer v Edinburgh City in South, Stirling v Peterhead in North?), seeded knock out round, teams potentially getting through losing 5 out of 6 games...

Aye, fair to say I`m not a fan.

Big increase in prize money. if I understand it correctly Championship clubs can win between £30,000 and £150,000.

I hope KDM are insisting the final of "their" tournament is held in "their" stadium.

I`m surprised any sponsor wants to put their name to this. What a load of utter mince.

It`s clearly contrived so that the B teams get more games against real football clubs. There`s a video on the SPFL site that explains the format - in the group round none of the B teams will play each other, so they`re all guaranteed 3 games against L1 sides and 3 more games against L2 sides.

Lower league clubs exist to play football in their own right. Their purpose is not to provide opposition to U20 teams.

Imagine having to play 6 games to get through to the last 32 of a competition when there are only 30 real clubs entering. When this was first mooted a few months ago, a close read of the careful wording seemed to show that this was entirely from the competitions working group. I`d be amazed if any clubs other than those entering B teams think it`s a good idea.

It`s a steaming pile of Hotspur that what it is.
I watched the video and lost after 1 minute.
Just make it knockout from round 1 with all teams.

When they bring in seeding to any competition it does nothing other than to totally ruin it, in my opinion

Absolutely dreadful for league 1 and 2 clubs, B teams shoehorned in, the omission of highland and lowland league clubs. There’s so much wrong with this.

At the very least, it’s a local business and they seem to be flying high. Honestly hope all the best for them
