"I’ve no idea what’s happened with that rumour, but the info came from a journalist who appeared on the BBC Scottish Football podcast a day or two after Wanyama signed. If anyone really wants to check, you can listen back to it."

As far as I remember it, the "journalist" was actually Marvin Bartley, who was guest on one of the BBC Scotland podcasts. Now it may well be that we`ve tried to bring in Rupenov (who seems to have been the one people were assuming we were bringing in) but he couldn`t get a work permit. Or maybe we weren`t ever in for him.

The likes of Palmer, Boyle, Forrest, even Kirk weren`t ever realistic options. Would have been good to get someone in with more experience but teams in the Championship have been struggling to bring in those strikers. St Johnstone brought in Gullan, who had we signed people would have had a similar reaction to Rudden. Ross County brought in Clark, who I think would have been maybe a better option but he may well have lost a bit of his pace and movement now he`s a bit older. Raith haven`t brought a striker in, Brophy went to Morton but didn`t get a game at Falkirk last season and seemed to have went right off the boil at Ross County.

Being a striker is a complexed business.

Faisal El B - 1st time round playing in a team with Paton, Cardle supplying him with service & Moffat with on field advice. Couldn’t stop scoring.

2nd time round - Couldn’t buy a goal, looked lost.

It’s as much about the team as the talent of the individual.

^^^ Well said Angus.
FEB was itching for games under Jeffries and you could see his desire and a season later was scoring for fun.

Moffatt was a similar story, top goal scorer in the league for Ayr and yet struggled when he moved to us. I`m sure other Pars fans will correct me but didn`t he miss 5 penalties in a single match?

The success behind FeB was Moff.

I`d argue Moffat was our best striker in the last 10 years.

FeB was amazing to watch, some of the things he did was incredible but Moffat had a different level of movement and intelligence

C'mon Ye Pars!

I agree re moffat. He was a very clever player, and good technically. Just lacked a bit of cutting edge with us.

Moffat was easily our best supporting forward in recent years, and easily our worst finisher.

Tremendous for us, but he soiled himself as soon as a chance opened up.

It`s about horses for courses I think. He created chances for FeB to shine. That was his strength and FeB `s strength

Moffat still managed to get 1 goal in 4 games, something we could do with now. His assist record must be higher too.

He done the dirty work. Was surprising talking to him, Paton and Geggan on trophy day and they hadn’t been offered deals yet. Thankfully they were rewarded later on with new deals.

No.

We had a few games where we missed more than one in a game (famously we missed three, with three different takers, v Dundee Utd at home) but FIVE? Some teams are lucky to get five in a season, let alone a match!
