An odd one to announce they are interviewing a candidate. Sounds like desperation from the board to announce that unless they have it confirmed. Eriskay FC can confirm that manager Cherry MacAulay has declined an approach from Rangers over the vacant head coach post in Govan. While naturally flattered, Cherry felt the timing wasn’t right - mainly because he’s still waiting on his new Adidas tracksuit top from last season and didn’t want to leave things unfinished. No assurances were given regarding a Christmas do budget, and the club also dismissed Cherry’s concerns about the playing surface at Ibrox not being up to the high standard he is familiar with at Cnoc Na Monadh. Discussions reportedly broke down when Rangers mentioned “expectations,” and Cherry asked if they’d tried meeting any recently. He wishes them all the best in their search for a manager - though he did note that their scouting process seems to have improved if they’ve finally started looking in the right places. Cherry remains fully committed to Eriskay FC - a club where the fans are onside and the post-match beers are plentiful #CherryStays 🟢⚪ Reply |

3. Author: veteraneastender Date: Sat 11th Oct 2025. 19:23 The real reason he declined is that the "Vital Spark" is unavailable to make runs from Eriskay to Govan due to having to cover for laid up CalMac ferries. Reply |
