Even if we beat Greece we`d have to hammer Denmark to go above them as it`s highly unlikely they`ll slip up against Belarus. So, playoffs it is. Dead rubbers abound.

If we beat Greece we`re guaranteed to be level with Denmark on 13 points if they beat Belarus. Any win in the final game would see us win the group comfortably.

Unless it`s not overall goal difference that decides it, but scores between the 2 teams. Either way, you`d get pretty long odds on us winning our next 2 games.

We need a point in Greece. Then a win against Denmark puts us in top spot. It`s only a dead rubber if we lose.

Yeah the point I made earlier. We only need a draw in Greece to force a winner takes all vs Denmark.

Clarke is being hounded out at the end similar to brown, that didn`t work out well.

That’s nonsense.
Brown much like Clarke, left an ageing team of his favourites for the next manager to be left with nothing.
Then it was Bertie. After this will be the next scapegoat,
Expect another wilderness era regardless if we qualify.

The players will be the biggest influence on what happens in the next era. Fact is our squads in the 00’s and 10’s were always off the pace. We had one or two but the rest were pretty average. We’re lucky just now our midfield is as strong as it is and we’ve been blessed with Andy Robertson at LB. Shame it’s never quite worked for Tierney with his injuries. I think he’d have been a much better player without them.

We are still short up front and in central defence though and tbh what’s coming round the corner isn’t going to be able to replace what’s there - I’d happily be proven wrong by the players tho.

I don`t mind Clarke, you know what your going to get and more games will be set out not to lose than go gung ho to win. Go back to the Brown/Burley/Levein/Strachan times and performances against the "big boys" was never an issue it was toiling and dropping points against Faroes/Estonia/Lithuania/Georgia/Moldova who were all bottom or 2nd bottom seeds in the group. Was stats going around not long ago had we beat the bottom 2 ranked sides in the groups we would have qualified for 8/10 last tournaments rather than 2/10 that we had done.

Little baffled by last night, starting gannon-doak who beat his man time and time again yet only having 1 striker on who most of the time was the one who had dropped deep to play him in. McTominay had his worst performance in the national side that i can remember. Max Johnson a RB doing well at club level and puts Tierney on at RB.

If someone told us we would be guarenteed a playoff with 2 games to spare would bite your hand off for it. With how things are currently that playoff could be a home game against Slovenia/Northern Ireland/Moldova with a final against winner of Wales vs Poland as example.

It seems like the team is in a very strange place psychologically speaking.

We`ve guaranteed a play off place with two games to go, which is almost miraculous in a group this competitive. We may even qualify for the World Cup before Christmas, which is unprecedented.

The team should be celebrating this amazing milestone, but instead the players and manager are on a massive downer and the manager has even called out their poor performances in public, which is pretty unusual.

There are two massive games still to play and it`s possible that we can win the group, but the players will need to be 100% up for the challenge and I`m not convinced that they`re in the right frame of mind.

Obviously there`s a month to go and a lot can happen in terms of the form of individual players. After two games where we could have been more expansive, you`d image that SC will park the bus yet again away and at home. Have the squad got it in them?

As you say, great to get into that spot so early.
Should not be critical at all.
Surely just need to learn and organise for next games.

If playing like that and get 3 points from Denmark who is going to worry 🤷‍♂️😁

Wales have come flying out the traps and got the crowd going. Deservedly one up.
Oh, to say that about Scotland under Clarke.

Northern Ireland look really handy so hope to avoid them in a playoff if they make it.

That was the big discussion after yesterday - why Scotland fans get on the teams back so quickly…..because we are so slow at starting. Belarus were all over us after the first minute yesterday. Greece should’ve been 1-0 up after 5 mins on Thursday. Theres nothing to cheer about until we are under pressure.
