This multi-million-pound, long-term partnership will also see Barclays become Title Partner of the Barclays Next Gen Girls’ Performance Programme and Official Partner of both the Men’s and Women’s Scottish Gas Scottish Cup competitions. The move demonstrates Barclays’ ongoing commitment to Scotland and Scottish football, having already awarded more than 300 grants to Scottish grassroots football clubs through its Community Sport Fund over the last four years. Barclays Hampden will now play a pivotal role in supporting the next generation of Scottish talent and the Scottish FA’s extensive list of programmes that make an everyday impact in communities across the country. | 11. Author: BlackLight Date: Mon 1st Dec 2025. 14:37 When I was at college in the 80s there was a Barclay`s bank on the high street. They were still heavily invested in South Africa. There were two cash machines on the street. Someone painted "Whites" above one and "Blacks" above the other, using the Barclays font and colour. Genius. I have no problem taking their money, but that doesn`t protect them from criticism. Reply |

Agree with BlackLight, accept the sponsorship, but in polite conversations in the corporate entertainment suite, mention concerns about certain investments. Reply |

Its EEP, never heard of a fan calling it "KDM Group Stadium" or whatever they want to call it. Same as St James` Park being that despite the "sports direct Arena" rename attempt under Ashl£y. New Stadiums like Hill dickinson stadium/The Amex will have naming that sticks with corporate sponsorship  Reply |

| 18. Author: onandupthepars Date: Mon 1st Dec 2025. 20:03 That`s right Tad. And it got me onto looking at names of stadiums, and other football things that are anachronisms, i.e. out of place. Now it`s only a slim link to football, but when I was a boy I used to walk to EEP from Abbey View, through Transy which was a wooded area with a big house and ponies in a paddock, and came out through big fancy iron gates onto Halbeath Road. I`m ancient now but I only just discovered that `Transy` was short for `Transylvania`. Quote: `While not a street name itself, the whole area now known as "Transy" was once referred to as Transylvania on old maps, a name derived from the Latin trans silva (across or beyond the forest/wood). This dramatic name, now associated with vampire lore, was officially changed to the shortened "Transy" in 1812, making the original form an anachronism.` The good old days, walking to EEP, proudly wearing scarf and tammy knitted by ma gran of course. I used to have more or less the same walk, can certainly remember a horse/horses, then eventually opens up to reveal EEP. To me at that age (over 50 years ago) the crowds seemed huge, but in reality they were really low, it was the start of crowds just above the 1000 mark- it just seemed a great atmosphere. I live overseas, but now when I`m back, my walk is from my place near the train station, through the public park-im touching 60 but the expectation of the game, seeing the floodlights if it`s midweek, the crowds walking to the game from all directions, you just can`t beat it, and the feeling is no different at my age than it was when I was 6 or 7.
