Feel like he’s a wee bit away from going to the World Cup, but i suppose you never know!

Can’t say I remember a pars player at World Cup - or a player in the Scottish Championship?!

Slightly off topic Willie Cunningham is as far as I can see, the only player that played at the World Cup while contracted to the Pars.

Quite a number of ex-Pars have played at World Cups

Allan Evan’s, Sol Bamba and Jackie McNamara but I think there’s more

David Wotherspoon.

Out of interest, GG, how is his English? I haven`t heard any interviews with him, and often language can be a barrier, but (touch wood) it doesn`t seem to be a factor on the pitch.
I really hope he is enjoying his time here and that he is around for years to come.

He has a rudimentary understanding of English, Steven, like someone who has studied it at school, but it`s certainly not his mother tongue. He has to process what is said to him and then think carefully about his reply. That takes time, but he`s young, so he`ll improve quickly. He lives in the same block of flats as several of his teammates, and no doubt they`ll help to bring his English on.

You can`t learn to swim without getting into the water. Similarly, you can`t learn a language to a sophisticated level without immersing yourself in it.

Not your average Sunday League player.

My favourite English is when it is learned in Scotland. Two people come immediately to mind who learned English in Scotland from their accents. Lorenzo Amaruso and Henrik Larsons wife. A joy to hear the Scottish tilt in their speech.

"Out of interest GG how is his English?"

Perfect - but he`s understandably struggling with much of the guffy West Fife patois !!!

I remember Paul Lambert and Harald Brattbak being interviewed after a Celtic game and observing that Harald`s grasp of English was somewhat superior to Paul`s.

It`s good that the young lads are living close together too. I think this is a very close knit group, we can go far with that

Nurudeen will end up with some accent, and a lot of swear words too!

Does the club still own accommodation for players coming in or are they just able to rent in the same area?

As far as I know the club own the three flats across the car park from me. I remember when Margaret Ross would introduce players and families into that accommodation.

There’s also flats in Duloch where players live(d). When we had Josh Falkingham and Alex Whittle they stayed up that direction.

Makes sense I think, especially for the younger ones if they are single or if they are far from home, partner etc might be in a different country.

Reading this made me think of Isa from Still Game 😉
