There was talk and probably was just talk that we tried to bring Martin Boyle to the club for big money . Surly it would have been worth sticking a bid in for him. Rudden and Kane have been round the block for a reason , Mainly because they aren’t good enough . Not signing outright a striker that can play 90 week in week out and isn’t injury prone is going to cost us a playoff spot IMO . Starting to feel a bit like when the Germans came in exciting to start of with then nothing . A mean a loan deal for a livi player is pretty uninspiring. Sja Reply |

That leaves us with Rudden, Kane and Thomas. Rudden looked terrible today and doesn’t seem to be able to last a game. Kane is a bit part player now due to injuries. As for Thomas he seems like the rest we’ve had from Bristol City. Striker position is an area we’ve needed to strengthen significantly for years. Reply |

Wouldn’t like his influence in our young team. Barney will be onto bigger things if he continues and can see him ending up in championship down south if he is consistent with present form. It’s the same old inconsistency issue we have, we play decent games against strong/stronger opponents and lose points against teams we don’t expect to. Personally I want to see a main structure of players to keep a basic foundation to build on. NL said after Hibs game he hoped it gave the lads some confidence … quite possibly an issue. Reply |

Yes, Tod is three ahead on 9, but after that it falls off a cliff and we see a five way tie on 2 goals which is nowhere near good enough for a side with playoff ambitions. The bigger worry is who the goals are (or were) coming from. Our main goal threat was a loan player who’s now gone back to his parent club, and we’re pinning a lot of hope on an untested teenager who, if we’re honest, looks like he’s hitting the wall over the last few weeks. That’s a massive gamble at this stage of the season. You simply don’t make the playoffs when goals are this concentrated and this fragile. Defences can key in on one or two players, and when they’re nullified, we’ve got nothing coming off the bench or from midfield to pick up the slack. Unless recruitment is addressed or someone else suddenly finds their scoring boots, we’re relying on hope rather than structure and hope isn’t a strategy. This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it. Reply |
