Quite shocked I’m the one making this thread and it hasn’t been done already.

The man in the middle had an absolute shocker today, it’s quite easy to see why he doesn’t get many Premiership games anymore despite refereeing for a significant amount of years.
He wasn’t the reason we lost today, far from it, but wow some of his decisions were baffling.
Foul on Gilmour, yet somehow they received a free kick resulting in their second goal.
Handbags between Gilmour n the Arbroath player didn’t need a yellow card for each. Then I believe Cooper started the tussle after Amade which resulted in the Arbroath player being shown his second yellow, Cooper received nothing.
As for blowing for half time when we were given a corner, beggars belief.

The Lennon Effect - We will get nothing from referee`s but Clancy today was as bad as I have seen, totally incompetent or as was chanted at him a few times today, a cheat take your pick.

Most of the refs who usually do Premier League games struggle to make decisions in the Championship due to the lack of VAR to correct them.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

When I seen he was appointed during the week, I shuddered. He’s hopeless. Sean Murdoch has been given praises from all angles regarding his performances, that’ll be mainly down to the fact he’s an ex player. They should really have some sort of platform set up for ex players to train as referees, whether if it’s a fast tracking system or something. It would help the game massively.

Will be really interesting to see Lennons comments regarding Clancy, cause he did get booked. He moaned during the week about the referee at Morton and he said he had to be careful with his comments as he’s on his last warning. Noticed Brunskill had to push him back from approaching the referee at HT today too.

Motherwell manager commented midweek after Beatons howler at Pittodrie regarding why referees ain’t full time in Scotland? IMO there is no reason why they shouldn’t be, especially within the top two divisions. I believe they get around £750 a game, some doing two games a week, maybe even a game Saturday and VAR on Sunday in the Premiership. Then they should be used to train the next generation in the other hours they are employed.

Gilmour pulled the Arbroath players shirt first before the second goal.

He played almost 4 minutes of stoppage time in the first half, so don`t think you could really criticise him for blowing for half time just because it was a corner. If the half is over it`s over.

The trip on Thomas was a clear penalty too and happened about 5 yards in front of him

Maybe more of our team need to stick up for each other if there is a problem on the pitch..shows a bit of unity and they won’t stand for any nonesense.

Irrelevant to the matter that, the referee makes the calls and once he’s made his decision it stands. Players being united makes no bloody difference.

Yeah, it would just lead to more bookings for dissent.

Ref was indeed poor as usual but I don’t agree with a couple of your points. Gilmour commuted foul first ref was right.

If we hadn’t taken an age to take a throw in then there would have been time for the corner. Time was up. Ref was right.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

I thought it was generally accepted nowadays that, if a corner is awarded in normal time, the ref allows time for it to be taken and only ends the half when the ball is clear of the penalty box.

I remember years ago at a World Cup the Welsh referee, Clive Thomas, awarded a corner at the end of a half and blew for time when the ball was in flight thus disallowing a goal which was subsequently scored. Incidents like that may have led to a change in interpretation.

Was there not a similar incident a few weeks back in the EPL?
There was a long discussion about it.
