Snubbed by England, didn`t even make the 35 man squad.
Wonder if he has any regrets now?
What a chump.

The boy is English so we cant really laugh too much but Id be annoyed if Clarke asks him to join again. I dont think he will though.

I wouldn`t be annoyed. He has options and he is English. That is fortunate for him. England would be his first choice but I don`t see why it should exclude him from second choice.
Imagine if The Bruce at Bannockburn told anyone who hadn`t always been behind him were not wanted.
We probably wouldn`t have the problem because we would all be English.

Wouldn`t bother me either way, although I don`t think we should waste too much time on this, I`m more bothered about goalies.

He might be happy with his decision, and had no real intention of wanting to play for any other country. Who knows, he might prefer to have a summer break.

Kind of getting bored of it all now. He had the opportunity and turned it down because he is English. Would have liked to have seen it and he would have enhanced the squad but no point laughing at the lad or going on about it.

We’ve all been critical of English players who never put their all into playing for Scotland, so would rather he didn’t want to play, rather than do that.

He was asked and he answered. That should be the end of it imo.

Cannae just change his mind cause he didnt make another squad.

Would have taken him if he`d wanted to come, but now? No thanks - he made his choice.

Say he changed his mind,
Would he be welcome in the camp knowing he really would rather be playing for someone else?
Would the fans be happy knowing the above.
Would be highly suspicious that he only wanted to play in the World Cup and would walk away afterwards.
No thanks from me.

If he performed well, all of that would be forgotten pretty quickly by the majority.

It depends on which camp you sit in, I suppose. Do you want what’s best for the national team? If so, you include him, as he’s better than what we already have.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Maybe he doesn`t want to go to the World Cup and play for Scotland as he doesn`t feel Scottish. Nothing to do with whether he gets in the England squad or not.

Suppose it depends on exactly what reason he gave if asked before.

I`d probably take him but given how few new faces were called up this week, despite the perfect opportunity to do so, it seems highly unlikely Clarke would.

BBC Sport saying he`s joining the England squad to replace Eze,

`Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes is set to be called up to Thomas Tuchel`s England squad to replace the injured Eberechi Eze.

Eze was not in Arsenal`s squad for Sunday`s 2-0 Carabao Cup final defeat by Manchester City because of a lower leg injury.`

If I was a footballer and England and Scotland were reversed with Scotland being the dominant side, and Scotland didn`t pick me but England asked me to play for them, I`d be missing out on the World Cup as I would never play for England. My mother`s maiden name is Holland so maybe I`ve got some Dutch blood running through me, so I`d play for them if my granny`s parrot was bought from a pet shop in Amsterdam.

The joys of hypothetical nonsense.

If I had been fortunate enough to become a pro footballer. I could have represented Scotland, England or R.Ireland due to my bloodline.

If I was never good enough to play for Scotland, well that would have been that for me….no matter if I was eligible or not, I’m simply not English or Irish. That’s just me, but I do get where Barnes (probably) is with this.

I know International football is littered with players playing for countries they weren’t born in and that’s fine, but it doesn’t mean that it’s for everyone.
