Clacks Council (effectively under SNP control) now the 17th local authority to dismiss the proposal for a Bank Holiday on 15th June to mark Scotland qualifying for WC finals this summer. A unanimous vote - hardly a difficult decision when councillors were advised it would cost almost an extra £60,000 to keep essential education services open. Only Aberdeen, Glasgow, Dundee and South Lanarkshire have so far approved a day off. Cue Douglas Ross raising this in Hoyrood and asking John Swinney if he now thinks the proposal was justified in light of the high level of rejections ? Reply |
