I live in Australia. A mate of mine, Keiran, went to pick up his dog at the vet. It had been kept overnight having had a tick removed. Mate goes in next morning to get the dog. "How much?", he asked. "!600 A$". He turned round and walked to the door. "Keep the elfin dog" he said. "All right, 1200" shouted the receptionist. "You heard me" said the big fella. Eventually he paid $750. True story.

It`s worth noting that vets will only require you to pay excess if you`re signed up to one of their preferred insurers. Fairly sure for Inglis it`s Petplan, who also happen to be bloody expensive!

I know costs have risen but I don`t remember prices ever being as high as they are now.

Given the urgency of his problem I presume PARrot wanted to alert as many people as possible to it and knew that this was the most popular forum for Pars` fans. We`re all here to help each other when we can aren`t we?

Grapes sultanas raisins and sugar free chewing gum are the killers. Even one grape can kill a large dog.
Chocolate also bad but needs to be a few squares of solid chocolate. Not a thin coated biscuit. Still can make them ill though.

Grapes are the worst. I can`t see how they got there unless it was deliberate. She`s a pup still. Barks at everyone who walks down piggy lane. Maybe someone got pissed off

Could also be completely innocuous like a child thats dropped them by mistake. Suppose you will never know unless you have cameras up on the area. I certainly wouldn’t have known grapes can kill a dog till this post came up.

A total nonsense response, Eric. Without belittling what I would agree to be a harrowing experience, a football thread is the last place 99.9% of pet owners would go to seeking urgent advice.
This post should be moved to off topic.

I think the subject has run its course so moving the thread is pointless. What a pathetic attempt to cause a bit of aggro.

Very possible in his panic he`s just posted and not paid attention to the forum title.

Cut someone needing urgent help some slack ffs.

Maybe best to move / close now it`s been resolved tho 🤔

Exactly that wee Eck. I had a short window. Shame some have a short fuse.

It has served its purpose now and thanks everyone.

It could be moved to off topic to continue the conversation now.
Thanks.

Not all sugar free gum. It used to be Wrigleys Extra as it had Xylitol in it..I don`t think it does anymore.

Tell that to the people who had political posts moved to the graveyard forum.

No issue with posting on this forum and understand the reason behind it.
Glad you’ve got it sorted

PARrot was looking for help , it was possibly life or death for his dog.
IMO he was right to post where he thought most people would see it . I really don`t see why folk are making a stooshie out of this .

A solution would have been a short post referring people to the proper forum where the full post could be read.

When I seen the post, it was obvious it had been put there due to the urgency of the situation, I don`t see a problem with that

Just in future PARrot just say the dog was kicking a football when he seen the grape think that makes anyone that has an issue with you needing help has no reason to complain as it was football related
