Dallas and Aitken are VAR specialists now. They don`t get on-field appointments. Beaton used to be considered to be our top ref but he seems to have been overtaken by Nick Walsh now.

He`s not contesting his seat at Holyrood next month so he`ll be able to concentrate on the football unless he has some other irons in the fire.

In fairness to Dross - I don`t like his politics but he seems to be a pretty good lino, and seems to separate his football from his politics pretty well.

No issues with these refereeing appointments

I remember him getting dog`s abuse at Montrose when we were in League 1 and there`s not much distance between the fans and linos up there. He`s always been pretty competent whenever I`ve seen him and I wondered why he didn`t aspire to being a top-class ref but maybe such a high profile role wouldn`t be compatible with a career in politics.

Never heard a Lino get so much abuse as he did at Montrose that day. Unfortunately for him the line he ran was right in front of the bulk of Pars support and “getting it tight” doesn’t even begin to describe it… actually went over the line ( no pun intended) a couple of times

As I say - as a lino I think he`s pretty decent.

At the footy I couldn`t give a rats ass about his politics and his parliamentary shenanigans.
