The SJ no 4, Boyes, was a persistent offender in this regard and was never punished. On the other hand some of the most innocuous of contacts are penalised. I`m completely perplexed now as to what is allowed and disallowed by way of physical contact. Reply |

Robertson was getting it hard from the Norrie last night in a couple of incidents where it was really the linesman who should have been culpable of dereliction of duty. Another big issue IMO is the nonsense in the penalty box at corners - players holding and grabbing etc. I reckon it`s long overdue that football authorities took a serious look at the Laws to prevent these minor melees. Maybe resticting the number of players in the penalty box and/or goal area ? This aspect of the game has crept in over the years, back in the Middle Ages when I started following football there was none of this bear hugging and standing on top of the goalkeeper. Reply |

I know forwards can lean into them, but last nights was awful, but was almost like ref had his plan upfront !!!! Reply |

Not saying he was biased or anything but there seemed to be a bit of a different approach to physical challenges by both sides. Morrison was given a two handed above in the back and Andy Tod was taken out right on the Main Stand touchline - neither were given as fouls. Diabate was constantly pulling, pushing and leveling but I think was only penalised once. At one point the referee played advantage three times in quick succession - two of the three were clear yellow card offenses - but didn`t go back to speak to McAleer or McPake. And to top it off, McPake poked Abdulai in the eye - probably a red card offense but at the very least a yellow card for raising his hands to an opponent`s face - and no action was taken. Reply |
