I think he`s right to be so positive, we won the match and our players all got experience of the opposition. As he said, our men were maybe a wee bit rusty after ten? days off, so tonight`s match would`ve sharpened them up for the task on Friday. https://dafc.co.uk/category/the-dugout/ Post Edited (Tue 05 May 22:59) Reply |

They had the chance right at the start and the one near the end which the boy was about 5 yards offside. Tod unfortunate not to have scored from a couple of strong strikes. Need to be more consistent on the ball throughout but defensively limited Arbroath to very little. That final ball at times is there for us to be ruthless, just making the wrong decision a little too often. You`ll take the lead up to Gayfield knowing if you get the first goal it`s a huge hill for them to climb. Reply |
| 84. Author: red-star-par Date: Tue 5th May 2026. 23:48 Not a lot of quality on display, apart from Kane`s brilliant goal. On the whole we deserved our win, but that Arbroath side are a tough nut to crack, a team packed full of battlers. At times it looked to me like they were happy to take a narrow defeat into the home tie. I had hoped to have a couple of goals of a lead going into Friday`s match, but, when you think about it, they have to have a go at us now, and we have the players who can get at them on the break. I`d certainly rather be in our position than theirs Reply |

I said before the game that Arbroath would make things tough for us and that a 1 goal lead wouldn`t be a disaster and I`m sticking to that. I think we became very nervous in the second half. I don`t know if the anxiety came from the fans or the players initially, but it was certainly more palpable near the end. Had Arbroath forced an equaliser, that would have been a disaster. As it is, I think we have a decent chance of going through. There`ll be no point in them wasting as much time as the ref let them away with last night. ![]() Not your average Sunday League player. | 87. Author: Sacktheref69 Date: Wed 6th May 2026. 06:32 We lacked real quality in the final third, with our midfield to forward play becoming almost non existent after going 1–0 up. We seem to struggle against teams that are streetwise. I thought Arbroath were decent without causing us too many real problems that I can recall. They were well organised, knew the referee had lost control, and won plenty of soft fouls. Their work rate was also impressive. I like Cooper, but when he came on last night, he didn’t provide the energy we needed after Morrison went off. He seems to struggle with consistency at times. He wasn`t brilliant on Friday night either. Friday will be tough, but I’d much rather take a one goal advantage than go into it as a one game shootout. This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it. Reply |

| 89. Author: Realpar101 Date: Wed 6th May 2026. 07:24 Looking back after last night a huge opportunity missed to kill the tie off early, Arbroath came with game plan and it worked we struggled at time to match the physically of them for large parts of the game. A great goal from the unsung hero of the season Chris Kane who really out and out has been our best attacking option. See a lot of heat on Callum Morrison last night which is a bit unfair i realize he did not have a great game but ran his socks off against a really big and physical defense tho i can fault his effectiveness i can’t fault the effort he brings. For me Andy Todd was a passenger this game and simple didn’t have the effort and physicality to compete in that game last night once Kane and Morrison stepped off the park you look to him to be the danger man but to me he hid and sadly at this time of the season it’s not the time to hide. For me id like to see a bit more pressure on Andy i know he’s young but he has proven he has the capability to perform at this level and needs to be a bit more effective in the areas that matter. Overall looking back not good not bad but it will do it’s a tough ask with a slender lead but a win is a must on Friday but if we are building a foundation for promotion these are the games we need to win i don’t know about anyone else but I’d much rather this team keeps playing and keeps performing right up to the final so we are as sharp as we can be. Friday will be interesting but to put it politely this is where we want and need to be as DAFC challenging and pushing for promotion with a cherry on top of a cup final against one of the ugly sisters Post Edited (Wed 06 May 07:27) Reply |

Do you even know what an unsung hero is? How was Andrew Tod hiding? Our defence was outstanding last night, and its them that gives me faith we`ll be able to get through this game. Arbroath played very well, which probably nullified much of what we tried to do. They looked good without creating any clear cut chances. This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.
