That was atrocious. Play like that up there and we are done. Arbroath are hard to play against. I don’t have high hopes for Friday now.

Very negative half from us, constantly passing backwards. East end park atmosphere was flat. We don’t score enough goals.

Second half was a slog but we still made chances, far from pish.
Arbroath got tighter on Amade & were closing us down quicker, opened up a bit more space for Fraser & Todd though.
Morrison wasn`t great but he must be a nightmare to play against. I have to say I don`t think Abdulai should play in midfield

Hardly won any 50/50 or second ball in the second half going to make it very very difficult to get through this tie now.

If ever there was a game crying out for Chis Hamilton it was this one.

I must have missed Arbroath scoring tonight oh that’s right they didn’t and we take a 1-0 lead up there with Arbroath needing to score twice to win the tie

Poor second half but we have a vital lead.

Could have been more but for a couple of great saves from their keeper. Meanwhile Ox had 1 save to make - in the 89th minute.

Tough second leg but it`s in our own hands - another shut out & we`re through.

Abdulai can play in there but I wouldn’t have disrupted the defence to do that. Hamilton could have come on in a straight swap.

Arguably one of the poorest performances all season. We were second to every ball, out thought to everything. Passed off the pitch. Just as well we took our chance early doors.

Do not fancy us up there on Friday with a one goal lead if we can’t win the battle at home. It’ll be a battle like no other at Gayfield.

If the players have one eye on the cup final and keeping fit etc then they need to get a grip. Or others have their minds next season, Mullen, Ngwenya etc, away from the club, well take a seat on the bench.

We are winning 1-0. We were great first half then they tightened up. They will have to come out and try to get a goal in the next leg and we will exploit that. I’m pretty confident we are going through COYP..

Morrison runs a lot. But little skill or end product. Even kane was having a go at him, should have fife on.

Strange second half.
Some poor passing and some poor decision making from the Pars.
And the ball decided to break to an Arbroath player almost every time.

I suspect Lennon might start with some of the young`uns on Friday to try and snatch an early goal.

I can’t see that happening. We struggled to create anything of note against Arbroath on Friday, even with the younger players. Cooper might start, but I don’t expect any major changes.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Just hope the players are not as defeatest as some on this thread.

It was always going to be a tough match up. We need to stand up to them better physically but I feel we can hurt them on the counter like we did in the 5-0 earlier in the season.

Of course your going to lose the midfield when your playing a main striker and Tod and Morrison. We almost tried to play on the counter last night.

They had the extra man in the middle of the park so always had an out ball and picked up every second ball. We are still a bit timid and not doing enough of the dark arts with we nudges etc. at least at Arbroath I expect Morrison to drop out and another midfielder to come in so we’ll be matching up in there.

Arbroath were better than us over 36 games, we’ll do well to get through this playoff against them. Partick and Celtic won’t have seen anything to worry them last night.

Thought Todd and Morrison were poor last night, Todd in particular took the easy option to pass back far too often, back to being unconvinced by Morrison, he’s fast and works hard but there’s a lack of quality in his play and he’s just too easily eased off the ball, is he really the level required to compete for the league next year?

I think we need to temper expectations here, this team finished 4th so even getting past Arbroath would be a great result. That was our strongest team so plenty improvements will be needed in the summer to move to competing nearer the top. We finished 15 points behind Partick.
