| 4. Author: Rusty Shackleford Date: Fri 15th May 2026. 12:28 If we win it though, we go into the 3rd round of Europa League qualifying, lose that and we drop down into the play off for conference league. Hilariously though, just winning the cup relegates Rangers into the conference league so there`s a strong argument Celtic should do the moral thing and lie down. Reply |

| 7. Author: Par-timer Date: Fri 15th May 2026. 13:26 Looking at the list of those either already definitely or currently qualified for the Europa League next year, teams like Hadjuk Split, Tromsø, Ferencvaros, Viktoria Plzen and Trabzonspor would hope to win through to the third round of the Main Path (as opposed to Champions Path), as would the teams who finish third in the Primera Liga (currently Benfica) and the Super League (PAOK at time of writing) or fourth in the Eredivisie (NEC Nijmegen presently) or the Pro League (Anderlecht at the moment), who also join the competition in the second round, ie one round before the Scottish Cup Winners. Definitely in the third round will be the Polish Cup Winners (Gornik Zabrze) and third placed team in the Austrian Bundesliga (currently RB Salzburg), but the Scottish Premiership runners up (Celtic at the minute!) could also join in if they lose their first Champions League qualifier. The draw for the third round will be seeded. The seven teams from the Europa League Main Path losing in that third round drop down to the Conference League Main Path play-offs, joined by seventeen clubs from two sources, either winners of the Conference League third round matches (who could be the likes of Panathanaikos, Brann Bergen and Braga) or the seventh placed teams from England (currently Brighton), Germany (possibly Freiburg), Italy (definitely Atalanta) and Spain (probably Getafe) and the sixth placed teams from France (Marseille at the moment). This play-off round is also seeded. Reply |

| 10. Author: DBP Date: Fri 15th May 2026. 13:52 Yeah that’s quite amusing, regardless on who wins the league - Rangers will be wanting Celtic to win otherwise they’ll be self harming! And if we win it’ll be 2 birds with one stone! 😎 Reply |

Hopefully they beat Motherwell tomorrow to qualify in their own right & then we pick up some silverware to claim the place this run deserves ...... COME ON YE PARS! Reply |
| 12. Author: BouncyPar Date: Fri 15th May 2026. 16:23 A few weeks ago there was the possibility of Falkirk gaining a European spot if we lost the final. Thankfully that`s not an issue as a) they fvcked up their league position and b) we`re getting the European spot when we win the cup Reply |

| 16. Author: Turps Date: Fri 15th May 2026. 17:27 From the Scottish Coefficient. Worth a subscription if you are in to these sort of thing. https://www.scottishfootball.info/ DUNFERMLINE DUNFERMLINE’S ENTRY POINT I get to Dunfermline last, purely because they are the only club in the article that don’t currently have a European place - they have to first win the Scottish Cup. However Neil Lennon’s men are only 90 minutes away from this, against what is widely accepted to be a relatively poor Celtic team compared to recent seasons. Dunfermline entering Europe as Scotland’s third entrant therefore remains a strong possibility, although all Hibs fans and maybe some Rangers won’t want to see it - as it would mean no European football for Hibs (if 5th) and Conference League football for Rangers. If Dunfermline win the Scottish Cup they are in Europa League QR3. If they lose it, they do not have European football (the runners-up no longer enter Europe after a rule change about 15 years ago) ![]() DUNFERMLINE’S POTENTIAL OPPONENTS The teams in the potential opponents are purely projections, based on the current league standings, and assuming the teams with the highest coefficient progress (except for Dunfermline, who I have shown as progressing). These opponents are liable to change, and I will update the graphics as the seasons end and after each qualifying round. Dunfermline know that their coefficient will not be high enough to be seeded in Europa League QR3. ![]() However if Dunfermline beat a team in QR3 with a high enough coefficient to be seeded in the playoff round (such as Vikingur), then Dunfermline would become the seeded team in the playoff round - avoiding some expected big hitters such as Braga, Olympiakos, Copenhagen etc. DUNFERMLINE’S MINIMUM EARNINGS TOTAL ELIMINATION If they enter Europe by winning the Scottish Cup, Dunfermline would not be guaranteed any league phase football. However the Pars ‘only’ need to win one tie to guarantee league phase football, as if they win: EL QR3 = guaranteed at least Conference League Phase football ECL Playoff = guaranteed Conference League Phase football If they lose both ties they are eliminated from Europe in August, and their UEFA payment would be only €1.1m, with other income including ticket sales for two home qualifiers plus the small amount of TV rights money generated by selling the rights to their home qualifying ties. They would not be eligible for UEFA’s solidarity payments, which are split equally amongst all Premiership clubs that don’t reach a league phase, as the Premiership clubs have never voted to pass any of this to Championship clubs.
