Topic: World Cup squad.

Steve Clarke announces his squad of 26 for the World Cup today. We all know he tends to stay loyal to his tried and trusted players but the extended squad number gives him some scope to introduce less familiar faces.

We still seem light in the striking department and it seems Tommy Conway will miss out through injury but that could mean an opportunity for Ross Stewart and/or Oli McBurnie who have both been in decent form recently. Findlay Curtis, the youngster on loan from Rangers to Kilmarnock who was in the last squad, has also been in good form and would be a good attacking option.

Goalkeeper remains a problem position with veteran Hearts keeper Craig Gordon sadly lacking in game time although some would say he`s the most reliable option we have.

Surely Hanley will go if fit?

I`d forgotten about Bowie. Verona have been relegated but he scored a late equaliser at Inter at the weekend to put a dampener on their Scudeto-winning celebrations.

I don`t think I`ve ever seen Alan Irving play since he was a member of Hearts Championship-winning squad.

i`m hoping Ross Stewart gets picked - he`s looked very good for Southampton recently and carries an actual goal threat.

No big surprises other than maybe Stewart.

Curtis is still very young so I think Calvin Miller and maybe another winger should have been tested in the friendlies. If Gannon Doak doesn`t play we`re struggling.

Just messaged my Wrexham supporting brother in law, about Dom Hyam, as I`d never heard of him before. He was saying that he`s been absolutely phenomenal for them, which is very encouraging to hear as its definitely been a problem position for us.

No Lennon Miller is astonishing. Why we need 3 right backs. Ralston out and Miller in, and I would have been ok with this. Ralston is 3rd choice at celtic never mind scotland.

Problem is Hickey and Patterson are both injury prone, so Ralston is there as cover for them. Feels like a waste a spot, I`m sure if Hickey and Patterson were ruled out someone could step in at RB - Lewis Ferguson, or even Tierney?

McBurnie will feel aggrieved at not making the squad. Has taken stick in the past but no player in the squad has scored more than him this season I don’t think

think his previous involvements and attitude/comments around being involved previously have burn his bridges

I saw Hyam play against the Ivory Coast and was impressed. Him and Souttar looked comfortable together
