Shades of the 2021 Euro final - early lead, anti football rest of the game and bottling on pens.

I say bottling because the PSG keeper was so bad in his attempts at saving pens that all Arsenal had to do was get them on target to win and they failed at that.

What a relief! Life would be unbearable if English teams had won the three men`s European club tournaments AND the World Cup!

Can never understand,at that level, players cannot even get a penalty on target. Amateurish putting it over the bar or passed the post.

It’s Eze who should hang his head in shame with that daft stutter in the lead up to ball.

TBH I’m a bit gutted that the 2nd best team I’ve ever seen at EEP lost tonight and most people the pub in Dunfermline where I was watching seem to be of a similar mind set.

"AND the World Cup". Do you know something we don`t, wee eck? 🤔

As for the game, that was pretty dire. It`s hard not to put the blame firmly on the old @rse for that. Contrast the final with PSG`s epic semi-final encounter with Bayern, who went toe to toe.

Arteta`s Arsenal are reminiscent of some of the club`s previous incarnations, when their supporters regularly used to sing "One nil, to the Arsenal..."

Arsenal have been my 2nd club for about 40 years. Gutted we didn’t manage to win this evening. Would have been great to of celebrated the double. Sadly it came down to the lottery of penalties. I must admit that watching us play if you are neutral will be frustrating and not entertaining. I myself wish we would play a bit more attacking football as we are definitely capable of it. But the first rule of winning a football game is not to lose it. Certainly PSG had lots of shots at goal but if you check the stats, the majority were not in target.
I’m sure if the Pars win the league next season by winning most games “one nil too the Pars” none of us will be complaining.

1986/7 we got promoted to the Premier having won 9 of 23 wins by 1-0, including the first three matches, and had the lowest goals against in the league…
However, despite those figures we were significantly more attack minded than Arsenal were.

But to answer your statement, of course we would take a load of 1-0 wins!

I guess if I had an english team it would be Arsenal, on account of my grandad playing for them, but I`m glad PSG won, good attacking team. They could be set to dominate for a while now. Never really got into the idea of folk from Scot6having a second team in england, I just find the whole idea of that, kind of sad, glory hunter, tourist league stuff

Arsenal played some decent football under Wenger, but before and after they`ve often played successful but dull, functional football, with the George Graham era typifying the worst example.

Many people tag penalty kicks as a lottery. I don’t agree. It’s a test of technique, skill and nerve. Two of Arsenal’s players failed to hit the target from 12 yards.

BTW, how come Madueke didn’t take one ahead of a centre half ?
