St Mirren winning 2-0 at Cove and East Kilbride beating Dumbarton 3-1.

Looking incredibly unlikely we’ll progress.

EK lost on Tuesday. It is possible that we beat St Mirren on the last day and make it come down to goal difference.

St Mirren vs EK on Tuesday is the important one. If that is a draw then we could win it in Paisley providing we beat Cove too.

Games finished.

Cove Rangers 0-4 St Mirren
East Kilbride 5-3 Dumbarton

Can’t see St Mirren dropping points against EK and with their goal difference think we’re playing for second in the hope that’s enough, would need a convincing win on Tuesday and a pull an upset next weekend.

I see Raith top their group.

Played three, won one, drawn three and lost minus one. According to the BBC anyway.

If we can finish on 9 points and get a few goals against Cove it`s possible but a tall order to do that and to beat St Mirren as well. You never know.

Noticed a shift in style for St.Mirren as well, they’re certainly knocking it about and trying to play under the new gaffer.

This setup of this stage of the competition frustrates me each year. It`s meant to be preseason but there`s a national cup at stake. It doesn`t really know what it`s meant to be. Lose the first game and you are struggling.

I think I preferred preseason where the fixtures would gradually increase in difficulty, possibly culminating in a friendly against a bigger team.
