| 24. Author: RhinoPars Date: Sun 19th Jul 2026. 21:00 Is a bronze medal in the Olympics worthless ? Obviously not as much at stake in the game, but if you are competitive it`s much better to win a bronze medal than no medal. Also after the disappointment of the Argentina game (and crazy attempt to just defend for the last 35 mins), England will have been looking for redemption and a win. France likewise will have been looking to make up for being well beaten by Spain. As ForesterPar wrote "I think if Scotland had got to this stage we would be rightly applauding their performance in the 3rd place play-off. Sure, the pressure was off, but it`s still a match between two excellent international sides. Credit where credit`s due." Reply |

Author: DBP Date: Sun 19th Jul 2026. 21:13 This isn’t the Olympics and in football second loser doesn’t mean as much - that’s why cup final losers often instantly take off the runners up medal the moment after it’s been put round their neck after a cup final in a semi final both teams are still ‘in’ the competition and there’s real consequence for losing so it’s much more meaningful and therefore cagey Reply |
