Listening to this game on Sportsound. It’s been a poor first half and second half now only just got going with the visitors’ 2nd goal.

And they’re out.

There is no shame in getting pumped by the European giants that are Sturm Gr.......... oh wait 😃.

Saying that, if we somehow managed to beat Celtic last season we`d be going out to Zalgiris, Bissen or TNS 😂.

I find it very sad that at club level, right across the board, Scottish football has descended to a point where clubs are nowhere near competitive enough in Europe.

This descent has been going on for decades, and we all know why — the imposed dominance of the Old Firm that is killing ambition and creativity.

The structural imbalance within the Scottish club system actively works against teams outside the two in Glasgow. It`s been four decades since we had Aberdeen and Dundee United doing their thing in Europe. Will they ever achieve such success again? Not if things continue as they are.

Any lingering hope we may have had that Hearts could break the mould was extinguished when the core of their squad, including their manager, was ripped out by Rangers in the close-season.

Of course, the irony is that neither Rangers nor Celtic will go very far in Europe either. Why is this? The Old Firm will claim that it`s because the opposition in Scotland is so poor. And why is that? On and on it goes... it seems that Scottish football is destined to stay on the hamster wheel, running itself into a frenzy, but ultimately going nowhere.
