Author: Sacktheref69 Date: Fri 31st Jul 2026. 19:05 6 minutes ago Dunfermline Athletic Football Club is delighted to announce that manager Neil Lennon and assistant manager Iain Brunskill have signed new two-year contracts, extending their stay at KDM Group East End Park. The new deals recognise the outstanding progress made under Neil`s and Iain`s leadership since arriving at the club in March 2025. After successfully steering the Pars away from relegation danger in their first few months in charge, the pair have built a side capable of competing at the top end of the Championship. Last season saw Dunfermline reach its first Scottish Cup Final in 19 years before ending the league campaign with a superb run of form to secure a place in the Play-Offs. Alongside those achievements, Neil and Iain have continued to shape an exciting squad for the future, overseeing the development of a talented group of young players while successfully integrating a number of new additions. Manager Neil Lennon commented, "I`m delighted. Look, I`m very happy here. First of all, it comes from the top. It comes from the owners, James and Evan, and then I work with great people in the background, John Colquhoun, who does a mountain of work. I`ve got a great relationship with him, and obviously, David Cook. So it`s a real sort of tight-knit bond that we have. We have aspirations; we have ambitions that align with the way I want to work at a football club and what we want to bring to Dunfermline." "I really have a great relationship with the players. So we`re very happy here. We`re very happy that the club has committed to us, and we`ve committed to the club. I hope it`s good news for the supporters on the eve of the league season starting." On his working relationship with Iain, Neil continued, “We`ve got a great understanding. We`ve got great experience, and we dovetail very well. He`s an excellent coach and organiser, and I think for the likes of Kevin McDonald and Kyle Benedictus, he`s a great role model and teacher for coaches to improve their journey along as first-team or younger coaches. We think it`s a really good fit for us, and we work very well together." Assistant Manager Iain Brunskill added, It`s really pleasing that we`re able to extend. It`s been something that`s been in the offering for a little while, so it`s great to get it over the line. I`m grateful to the club and grateful to the manager. He`s brilliant to work with and lets us do our job. Obviously he knows the game inside out and puts trust in you. So his experience and knowledge of the game and the way he deals with the players is fantastic. So it`s a great environment to work in, and working with the rest of the staff, yeah, so I`m delighted." On life in Dunfermline, Iain explained, “I live in the city. So I get out and about; I`m really enjoying my time, and I’m happy, as I have been at work for a long time. It`s a really supportive club, everyone pulling in the right direction. The fans have been great with me. Every time I`m out and about, it`s nothing but kind words, so it`s a real easy place to be and to settle in. My family come up, so my wife and daughter come up, and they love it here. The support has been brilliant, and hopefully, we can keep giving them things to cheer about and keep the numbers rising as they did throughout the year." Finally, CEO David Cook commented: "On behalf of the Board and Ownership, we`re delighted that Neil and Iain have committed their futures to Dunfermline Athletic. Their leadership, experience and the standards they demand have helped drive the club forward, and that was reflected in the progress we made last season. Reaching the Scottish Cup Final and finishing the campaign with such momentum showed what this group is capable of, while the continued development of our young players gives us real confidence for the future. The statement doesn`t make it clear if this is an additional 2 years to the year left on their contracts, or 2 years in total, but maybe it`s just me being a bit dim. 🤔  Not your average Sunday League player. Huge strides forward, but I would say managed extremely well in terms of direction, ambition and progress. Gradual and consolidated improvement is a far better sustainable approach than throwing money at it for short term gain. It is really great news for supporters because it demonstrates the intent to continue to develop and grow the club. I would have thought its really important for the players to know that they will be working under a management team whom themselves have committed to the club.
