He reckoned we dominated for 80 minutes and only a world class save at the end denied us three points. If we continue to play like that the results will come. He was impressed by the `new` back three which gave us a great platform. Great goal from a move we practise all the time in training. Ox and Corbally should be available next week and Rudden will be back training this week so rumours of a long-term injury seem off the mark. Reply |

I think the new defence looked good on the ball and generally good in play. They were dreadful at set plays though. Free header for Ayr goal and again from a couple corners. We are a fair bit off looking like title contenders in my opinion, but still look a decent team. You would expect more from the millions being spent. Not good enough for me in all honesty. The money being spent and the inexperienced decent team we have is not good enough for me. The recruitment team need to buy a old Bene type leader. Reply |

| 5. Author: wetherby Date: Sun 9th Aug 2026. 00:11 I usually agree with NL`s match analysis but dear oh dear not to-day. We were not outstanding , an oustanding team would have won that comfortably. An outstanding team would create more than 3/4 chances over 90 mins. An outstanding defence would not defend corners like that. My real concern was that despite our dominance we seldom worked their keeper . Ayr were little more than well orgaanised but still looked a threat. I really hope NL is simply saying this for public consumption and can see that we are aching for attacking midfield creativity. Reply |
| 6. Author: NMCmassive Date: Sun 9th Aug 2026. 00:38 I genuinely believe 75-80% of what NL says in interviews is for public consumption and what he’ll say to the players will be different. I seen a lot to take positives from today. Would really like to see some quality deliveries from the right because the only one putting in anything close to good service was Robbie Frazer. Just wait till you see our next few years accounts. Ouch! We are spending eye bleading amounts for a club at our size and level. Reply |
| 8. Author: Angus_W Date: Sun 9th Aug 2026. 06:45 We’re getting there. I have faith in the management team, there will probably be a few more bumps in the road but this is looking good. We controlled large parts of yesterday’s game but Ayr came away with a point. We need to learn how to kill games off. You’ve seen the Pars now please go home! Reply |
| 9. Author: Sacktheref69 Date: Sun 9th Aug 2026. 07:39 I usually agree with a lot of what he says, but we definitely weren`t brilliant to a man, as he suggested. Pre and post match interviews need to be taken with a minuscule pinch of salt, though. For example, he isn`t going to come out and slate the team or a certain player publicly. I watched something with Pep where he ripped into the players behind closed doors, then went out and complimented them in the media. This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it. Reply |

Author: SusieQ Date: Sun 9th Aug 2026. 07:48 I didn`t think we were "outstanding" either but I enjoyed the game and agreed with the sentiment of what he was saying - we were the better team, you don`t always get what you deserve & once we gell properly, it could be really good this season. Great news that Ox should be back next week & Zak will be back in training too. Neither appeared to be badly injured yesterday when they appeared at ht to get photos with our shirt sponsors 😎👏🏼 COME ON YE PARS! Reply |

We looked vulnerable from corners and had the balls into the box been a bit better quality we could have won the game comfortably. Ayr pressed hard to stop us playing and ran out of steam the last 15-20 minutes which looked our most dangerous spell in the game. G Wardrope Post Edited (Sun 09 Aug 09:20) Reply |
| 12. Author: The Boss Date: Sun 9th Aug 2026. 09:15 Bertie Paton, Sun 9 Aug 00:54 Surely we don’t need to be racking up debt to achieve 2 points from 6? Watching us yesterday I’m unsure what we’re actually trying to achieve. Promotion or even challenging seems a good bit away. | 13. Author: thebear Date: Sun 9th Aug 2026. 09:16 Disagree, except in a few areas we were outstanding, those were cutting passes through and also actually having a shot at goal. Remember we were against another top team. All individuals were not outstanding, as some were OK. But overall yes we were. Where does the negativity on finance come from, losing millions and racking up debt, not from players but running costs, it's speculation and subjectivity. Have we spent more than other teams in this league, dont know, but we are better supported. Clearly I like all, want pars to continue and thrive , but they have to invest for now and future, or in 2 to 3 years, we could be fighting against relegation again. | 14. Author: Indiapar1 Date: Sun 9th Aug 2026. 09:23 Most teams will come to EEP looking to keep it tight and look for a point. We will need to think how we can break that down at home games. I listened to NL's comments and I thought they were balanced and fair. G Wardrope Post Edited (Sun 09 Aug 09:37) Reply |
| 15. Author: Paralex Date: Sun 9th Aug 2026. 15:22 Everything considered, two points from the first two games must be considered as a very poor return for a team, which, yesterday had over 5,000 home fans, against a team that barely had 100. No wonder they were congratulating themselves after the game, as if they had just won the league. We would be very easily pleased if we were satisfied with our first two results. We should have had yesterdays game well won before needing a last minute effort to try and win the game. I just hope the players are dedicated enough to the cause to turn us into the league leaders that we should be. I`ve now got to endure the drivelling of Partick Thistle fans who now think their going to skate this league. Reply |
