But maybe, one day we can have nice things again and the real thing returns at some point. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ckg6p8pg55go ![]() Reply |

In fact I thought it pointed out that, as it was being played over an international weekend, a few top players would be missing! Does anyone recognise the Pars player in the pic with Joe Miller? Is it Norrie? Reply |

| 5. Author: wee eck Date: Thu 13th Aug 2026. 08:32 Davie Irons did occur to me although the hairstyle didn`t look quite right. He was at the club between 1988 and 1991 though so that makes sense. Reply |

| 9. Author: parathletic Date: Thu 13th Aug 2026. 11:30 I looked out the programme for 90/91 and our squad was 1 Andy Rhodes 2 David Irons 3 Ray Sharp 4 Istvan Kozma 5 Ross Jack 6 Billy Davies 7 Stuart Rafferty 8 Eddie Cunnington 9 Scott Leitch 10 Ian Westwater 11 Paul Smith 12 David Moyes We didn`t play Celtic that year though so the BBC has that wrong. It was 89/90 that we played them. Reply |

Author: allparone Date: Thu 13th Aug 2026. 11:51 The Scottish Masters has been running for a few years now at Braehead which is pretty much soccer sixes but with 4 Premiership teams. “Legends” is a term that would be used very loosely when you look at some of the players in the lineups of the teams that have been playing. I’m sure it was free to air and wasn’t watched by many. I’m not sure how Premier sports think this will be a money spinner tbh. Reply |

Author: wee eck Date: Thu 13th Aug 2026. 15:48 One of the comments on the article on the BBC Sport website lists the previous venues - `Comment by peasfrog at 05:30 The Kelvin Hall did not stage one single Tennents 6s. The venues were... Coasters, Falkirk - 1 (1984) Ingliston Showground, Edinburgh - 1 (85) SECC, Glasgow - 8 (86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93) Please change this.` I suspect the original article was a bit of a dog`s breakfast and an attempt has subsequently been made to tidy it up. | 18. Author: allparone Date: Thu 13th Aug 2026. 15:53 “All 12 Scottish Premiership clubs will enter a team into a legends version of cult indoor tournament the Tennent`s Soccer Sixes later this year.” The Scottish Masters was over 35’s. This sounds like it will be exactly the same although shown on Premier and consist of 12 Premiership “legends” teams rather than the 4 in Masters football. Last years tournament is still on IPlayer if you want to see what it will be like. It’s pretty rubbish and should be left to nostalgia imo. Reply |
| 19. Author: parsfan Date: Thu 13th Aug 2026. 16:25 Group stages will be played on Saturday, with the winner and runner-up from three regionalised groups of four teams progressing to the knockout stage along with the two best third-placed teams. Being regionalised will mean they won`t have to travel too far once they`re all in Glasgow. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The universe is ruled by chance and indifference ![]() Reply |
| 20. Author: Bletchley_Par Date: Thu 13th Aug 2026. 17:14 There were no major injuries through the previous soccer sixes run. The closest it came was Steve Fulton while playing for Celtic eating too many compilatory hot dogs and getting a massive bellyache and not being able to play. ![]() Reply |
