Rumoured to be signing for Notts Forrest for around £40million. Can anyone explain how a forward who scored one goal last season can possibly command such a fee. The English transfer market has gone completely mad.

Chelsea are making a healthy profit on him 🤷

buying an English player is like buying a house in London. Vastly inflated prices, but people still pay and the assets holds its value - because of the homegrown rules for EPL squads, English players command a premium vs. foreigners.

It`s another reason the English national team is going well - top clubs are incentivised to have English players in their first team squads.

It’s called the English tax and it’s getting worse every season. Look at Elliot Anderson for example. No way is anyone paying over £100M for him if he had chosen Scotland over England.

Re: Anderson, they actually would because he`s classed as English homegrown, and would be classed as such had he chosen to play for Scotland.

Chelsea also going to sell Jackson to Villa for £65m
That’s £110m in for two strikers they don’t want.

Not just English players. Savinho (now Savio), Marmoush and Jackson all gaining market value despite barely doing anything. It`s all just pretend money these days.
