Author: GG Riva Date: Fri 4th Sep 2026. 13:09 Now that the transfer window has "slammed shut" (great bit of business getting Olly in just in time), you`ll have so many talented players to choose from when they`re all fit. Of course, a large squad is much preferable to a threadbare one, but that brings its own problems; like what`s our ideal starting XI, which players are better coming off the bench, which formation will suit them best, how do you keep them all happy, etc.etc? Worry you not, for you won`t believe how many budding Championship Managers we have among our fan base, and they will be delighted to pass on their wisdom and experience to you free of charge. π All you need to do after everyone has had a chance to pass on their sage advice is to tot up the picks for each player and for the best formation to use. You have to wonder why other top managers don`t do this. π€ ![]() Not your average Sunday League player. Reply |

It`s not like some you to be so backward at coming forward. π I`ve seen plenty of preferred line ups before the manager`s selection is announced before a game. Assuming every player is fit, name your starting XI, you`re preferred tactical formation and the players you`d select for the bench. Geordie will be taking notes and reporting back to his gaffer..... π ![]() Not your average Sunday League player. Post Edited (Sat 05 Sep 07:03) Reply |

| 9. Author: Paralex Date: Sat 5th Sep 2026. 13:25 Dear Mr. Lennon, If you have half a brain ( which I am sure you have at least half and probably more) you should be very careful to avoid dot net. Much of the "wisdom" expended here can be borne out of sheer frustration if the team are not doing well and scant praise when it is. Some have a bias towards team formations and others prejudices against certain players. Perhaps there is some advantage for the terracing pundits by being more remote from the playing staff and thereby being slightly more objective in their advice. But much of that advice comes from hindsight, to which you don`t have such recourse. Any terracing advice that does filter down to you, please take with a very big pinch of salt, since you are much more aware of the current state of fitness of the players and suitability for each game. And most of all be very much aware of the absolute fickleness of the average football fan. Yours sincerely, The only rational, impartial and truly objective football fan in Scotland. Reply |

I trust you are probably working βsmartβ when you are travelling to Austria, England and other places that are not East End in your free time, you will be reading this on the plane. If you feel under pressure or stretching yourself, I believe the Dunfermline elastic band is made of quality black and white postal rubber bands. Best regards The Dotnetters. Reply |
