That would have been pre-decimalisation though, and average salaries were around 1200

No doubt your money went a lot further in 1968, Ipswich - if memory serves, a Mars bar cost a tanner (sixpence) and 25p was 5/- (shillings) in old money. That would have bought you 10 Mars bars. How much would that set you back today?

Not your average Sunday League player.

That was lager LA .. Beer or heavy as we called it was 2/- so 8 pints of lager or 10 pints of heavy for Β£1

A fish supper was 1/6d .. and a gallon of esso extra was 4/3d

We are forever shaped by the Children we once were

Average salary 1968 was Β£25 - therefore walk up admission in Scottish top league was 1/100 of that.
Fast forward that to 2024 and you’d need to earn Β£2400 for a visit to EEP to maintain comparison.

About 80p for a single Mars bar isn`t it?

As always, clever with their marketing.... I think you can buy a 4 pack for about 1.50 but they are smaller.

Yeah and a single Mars bar now is about the same as half a duo πŸ˜‚

Prices and sizes have been a farce these last 2/3 years - cat food, for example, is glaringly obvious - price has increased 200% for both wet and dry boxes yet packets have decreased in size by 20%. How this isn’t regulated is beyond a joke.

Another angle for the farce with Ticketmaster is the ease that bots seem to get tickets faster than humans and re-sell them on ViaGoGo for astronomical prices.

My wife has just purchased two tickets for Wet Wet Wet at the Alhambra in Dunfermline from someone in the Czech Republic and paid for in Czech currency.

It may just be a coincidence πŸ€”

Saw them once, at the corn exchange in Edinburgh. Absolutely awful. They couldn`t have look more bored or wanting to be anywhere else but on stage, if they tried.

Edinburgh Corn Exchange was a brilliant venue back in the day as well! Close to the stage, loud, close to the band. So much better than seeing these bands in arenas or stadiums.

Seen Foo Fighters there (Β£20 if anyone is wondering) They had β€œand you will know us by the trail of dead” supporting them.
Absolutely outstanding night! Both bands were just outrageous πŸ”₯

Once saw a guy try and throw a pint whilst watching Them Crooked Vultures at Corn Exchange. Unfortunately for him he was stood on the edge of the bit with the lower ceiling so his pint came back on him πŸ˜‚

I wish I seen that! Always used to leave that place soaking wet. I don’t know why pint throwing was a thing πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

I also was trying to get Oasis tickets (NO ! not for me)

as soon as the price went up I walked away. don`t encourage them.
if the ticket is not the base price don`t buy it.
if you do you only make it worse ?
