In the words of George Orwell:

‘A French journalist said to me once that the monarchy was one of the things that have saved Britain from Fascism. What he meant was that modern people can’t, apparently, get along without drums, flags and loyalty parades, and that it is better that they should tie their leader-worship onto some figure who has no real power. In a dictatorship the power and the glory belong to the same person.

It is at any rate possible that while this division of function exists a Hitler or a Stalin cannot come to power. On the whole the European countries which have most successfully avoided Fascism have been constitutional monarchies.’

There could be something in that. In my experience royalists tend to be fairly stupid people, in need of something to belong to and willing to believe any old rubbish they are told. Fairly easy to manipulate simpletons like that. They are usually fairly right wing, so I could see how they would be right into fascism too

Paralex. What the **** motivates you to most your religious mumbo jumbo onto a thread which other than their political position as head of CoE is utterly irrelevant to a discussion about the royals?

I saw a short newsreel of the Spanish king and queen being abused by a crowd in Valencia. Maybe all is not well there.

On national anthems, you can stick the British, Scottish, and Australian anthems where the sun doesn`t shine, but listening to the South African anthem sung with emotion can bring me to tears—it is such a beautiful song.

^^^^ It certainly is.
It is a beautiful accumulation of several languages that combines important cultural words from each ethnic group thus bringing them closer altogether.

I learned this anthem and sang it at a Scotland v Springboks rugby match at Murrayfield whilst on a first date with my now wife. The Zulu warriors performed a type of "Hakka" and the atmosphere was electric.

Scotland beat SA for the first time in nearly 50 years and I married my GF and took her to every Sco v RSA game thereafter 👍

My brother said my singing sounds like a goose farting in a spacesuit.

I think your other half and I should enter BGT, Parboiled! 🤪

Somehow this is one of the last things I expected to read in a thread about the royal family…

Just spotted the opportunity Pars4life1, while considering Crooked Royalty, to point people to the perfection of the One who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who said to Pontius Pilate that He was a King but that His kingdom was not of this world. His Kingdom will last forever and unlike our present rulers, He will reign in perfect righteousness. We are told that He will return in great power and glory, that every eye (even yours and mine) will see Him and every tongue confess that He is Lord. Surely you are aware that the world we inhabit is approaching the end of it`s life span, so the present world order with its temporary rulers pale into insignificance compared to the reality of the coming eternal kingdom.

Start with the basics NMCmassive, sadly that`s where most people are at now. Sunday schools are few and far between and primary schools don`t do it anymore.

I don’t think there is a demand for the supply these days 🤷🏻‍♂️

A salesman will tell you that advertising of a good product produces demand, and what better product than the Good News of Jesus.

So Charles opens foodbank to celebrate his birthday!🤬

Have these people no conscience, as bad as Cammilla coming on for an abuse program, she would know the psychological effects!🤔

That’s not accurate.
“King Charles arrived at the Deptford Trading Estate where he is opening the first Coronation Food Hub which is designed to help save and circulate tonnes of surplus food. All paid for by himself.”

Putting a statement in quotes meant I didn’t write it. Thought that would be obvious.
