| 1. Author: OzPar Date: Thu 26th Dec 2024. 11:43 A couple of pals came over to my place last week and stayed the night as it was my 70th birthday. One brought a bottle of a whisky called Monkey Shoulder, which I had never heard of before. Its name and the appearance of the bottle give a strong impression that it is an American bourbon, but no, it says it`s from Grants. Taste-wise, it most certainly fits into the Scotch malt category, and a quick Google search reveals a very smooth mixture of Glenfiddich, Balvenie, and Kininvie malts. It`s an excellent drink, and without wishing to cast aspersions on the tight-fistedness of my splendid pal, I have discovered that it`s a pretty cheap price, too... Honestly, I don`t want to make this some old-man lecture, but it`s incredible how quickly time passes the older you get. If you are 40, 50, or 60 today, for goodness sake, please take stock of where you are and make some long-term plans. I’ve seen a couple of them empty in my time 😂 I wouldn’t go out my way to get it but one we thing we are blessed with here is easy access to very good whisky. 12yr Old Pultney last time I seen was £25 in Asda. Tamnavulin goes for about the same. I know not everyone drinks whisky but it’s like buying wine in Europe. Just great bottles for not a lot of money for them. Just whisky obviously costs a little more per bottle. Last time I was in Slovakia it was a good £5-10 (converted from €) a bottle cheaper here. COYP Reply |

When we got home an acquaintance at Cambus bond, about 3 miles away, told me it was stored there before bottling for worldwide distribution, so its overall roundtrip journey was actually twice what I had realised. | 16. Author: arpar Date: Sat 28th Dec 2024. 09:04 Amazon does sell all its alcohol at the same price in the UK and a lot of it is under the MUP. The ironic thing here is that selling Tamnavulin at £22, while a good deal, is not under the MUP and you could get the same whisky for that price in any store in Scotland if they choose to sell it at that price. MUP for a bottle of 40% whisky would be £18.20. They do sell litres of blended whisky such as Grouse for £18.50 which is significantly cheaper than the MUP which would be £26 in a Scottish store. | 18. Author: DunfyDave Date: Sat 28th Dec 2024. 10:54 Bought a bottle of Glenfiddich 15yr old on Amazon for £41 and it was one of the best whisky`s I have ever had. Buy all my booze on Amazon now for availability and price. Normally a Buffalo Trace bourbon drinker myself and my wife enjoys the Vodka or Tequila in her Margarita`s and can`t be beaten on price.
