1. Author: Raymie the Legend Date: Fri 7th Feb 2025. 11:44 Sky want to put me up to £46 for a package that delivers average download speeds of 150MB. I`ve been on the phone to them and the best they can do is £35 and a warning that prices will rise on April 1st Comparing providers online, I can get similar speeds for two years from a number of providers for between £27-£29. Sky also come up but it`s only for new customers. So much for loyalty. Providers that come up are: Talk Talk Plus Net Vodafone Virgin BT I would appreciate hearing about folks` experiences with any of the above thanks ![]() It`s bloody tough being a legend Ron Atkinson - 1983 Reply |

3. Author: Playup_Pompey Date: Fri 7th Feb 2025. 14:13 are you out of contract with sky? there are ofcom guidelines about pricing they can offer new/existing customers. Full fibre to property etc is now available in dunfermline area. https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/saving-money/end-of-contract-notifications-driving-better-deals-for-customers/ ![]() Reply |
4. Author: ipswichpar Date: Fri 7th Feb 2025. 15:17 As Pompey says....so I`m assuming you`re out of contract. If they have whacked it up within contract they`re in breach I suspect. My personal opinions...... Avoid TTG at all costs. I suspect BT will be too expensive but might be surprised. I think VM will be expensive and I don`t think I`ll be surprised I`m currently with VF (running on the Openreach network and service is good. Support is good but I have limited need to use it). Plusnet might be a reasonable shout. I`ve used them before. Service and support were good but that was a few years ago and there has been a fair amount of cost savings driven since then. Remember and see if there are topcashback or equivalent savings to do the like for like. VF are pushing mobile dual deals too. Not sure if you`re wanting to keep a landline number but that may impact decision too. Reply |
5. Author: Raymie the Legend Date: Fri 7th Feb 2025. 15:42 Playup_Pompey, Fri 7 Feb 14:13 I will be next month. That’s when it reverts to £46. The deal I’m on has been superseded by another, but I still can’t get the deal that new subscribers will get. ![]() It`s bloody tough being a legend Ron Atkinson - 1983 Reply |

14. Author: widtink Date: Fri 7th Feb 2025. 17:33 I had Virgin broadband full fibre for a couple of years and couldn`t fault it.(Although the cabinet was right outside my house so that might have been the reason it was so good). However ... The price went up considerably in they two years and getting in touch with them is an absolute shambles so I left them. Had EE at the door yesterday touting for business. Might give them a go .... Are they any good ? Admin ![]() Post Edited (Fri 07 Feb 17:35) Reply |
15. Author: ipswichpar Date: Fri 7th Feb 2025. 17:41 EE is effectively BT widtink. They`ve rebranded their UK Consumer branding to be EE. Openreach have some proper scale on full fibre now so I suspect the service is getting better all the time. Suspect it`ll be particularly handy for consolidated deals if EE mobile network coverage is good in your area too. Reply |

18. Author: jake89 Date: Fri 7th Feb 2025. 18:25 We`ve had Virgin, Vodafone, Plusnet and Sky. Virgin were the worst. Not regular outages but I don`t think we`ve ever had any when using firms utilising Openreach lines. Virgin customer service was appalling and they seemed to be forever pumping up prices. The final straw with them was not being able to offer me a free box upgrade despite having been with them for over a decade. Told them where to go after that. No issues at all with Vodafone, Sky or Plusnet but I`d say Vodafone had a better router and Plusnet the best customer service. We`re up for renewal in a few months and will likely stick with Plusnet unless Gofibre are in the area by then. Reply |

20. Author: Dave_1885 Date: Fri 7th Feb 2025. 20:27 We are with Vodafone here in Cowdenbeath, couple of wee connection issues at times but been with them 6 years and not had anything major. Router strength a bit weak with Ring doorbell, but that may be more the building make up (100 plus year old walls). Reply |
