| 3. Author: jake89 Date: Thu 27th Feb 2025. 16:37 The middle bit is supposed to make up 9 flats. They're probably waiting to sell the last 4 flats before starting on those. He who shall not be named has the St Margaret`s works over the road. It`s far worse. An absolute travesty it`s been left how it is but worth being aware the Linen Quarter was only really developed because the guys who bought the land got it for quite a low price at auction. The overgrown bit in front of the gym, bakers, salon etc is also still owned by he who shall not be named and I suspect he`s intentionally left it in a mess. He put in a ridiculous objection to the Linen Quarter development despite it being not far removed from what he had put forward. His family also objected to Khushi`s (or the family behind it) proposing a new restaurant where the bookies was on Bruce Street. I`m pretty sure he used to own that unit too. | 7. Author: jake89 Date: Thu 27th Feb 2025. 18:28 Kinema Ballroom is sold and is being turned into a Booffi World Buffet. Johnson`s has been sold too. It has permission to be flats. The old Sinky`s also has permission to be converted to flats. It was to have new windows added. The old Post Office is owned by the Adamson`s and is on the market right now. The family behind Khushi`s got permission granted this week to convert the bookies and carpet shop into a restaurant. The old Robins cinema has been at auction umpteen times but no-one is interested. Same with the old Registrars. It`s owned by the guy who owns the main pub in Kelty and I think the hotel in Cowdenbeath but he`s trying to sell it. The rumour is it`s ready to collapse. Filled with wet and dry rot. Mushrooms growing out the walls. There should be fines for people who allow buildings to end up like that. A massive issue in Dunfermline was a certain someone borrowing loads of money to buy up buildings around Dunfermline, get planning permission for change of use and then try to flog them. The issue is no-one in their right mind would pay a premium for these properties when there are plenty of easier ways to turn a profit on property developments. They then lost loads of them and they all sit doing the rounds at Future Property Auctions. Reply |

Im surprised the building down Walmer Drive that was up in flames last year hasn’t been brought down, along with the old East Port Car Garage as they are a horrendous sight now. Shame the old Cinema has never been renovated - ironically it would be the perfect kind of venue for Wetherspoons, but they don’t need two in the town. Reply |

The garage in Walmer Drive was being used as a taekwondo gym (c2012) but no idea if they’re still there. I think Morgan’s were looking to extend into the old council tax office at one time. The former Fife council offices in the Maygate needs looking at too. It was a beautiful building inside many moons ago. Same owner as the Linen Quarter and has plans for flats on the site. Maybe they`ll let Morgan`s sell them 😂 These issues aren`t unique to Dunfermline. Sometimes people buy with good intentions and it doesn`t work out, other times they`re simply crooks who couldn`t run a bath let alone a property business. Positive move afoot though. Next few months should see: - Boofi opening at the Kinema - Khushi`s (or other name) restaurant on Bruce Street - Julia Hart moving from Chalmers Street to take on most of the row of shops where Third Base used to be - Maybe progress at the old Johnson`s? - Work starting on Walmer Drive - New pet charity opening on the corner of the High Street and Bruce Street Also good to see Accent Gaming move to a bigger space on the New Row. Lots to be positive about but still an absolute disgrace that Fife Council STILL won`t sort out the state of the high street paving, benches etc. Historic capital and those useless bastards have replaced iron benches with plastic. Makes my blood boil how those idiots in Glenrothes treat Dunfermline. Reply |
