1. Author: GG Riva Date: Fri 7th Mar 2025. 14:28 I was given a Fitbit Sense for my birthday last month, and I`ve just about got the hang of it now. I`ve noticed it`s been acting a bit weirdly recently. e.g. This morning, I went out and ran 4 miles. When I got home, it registered just under 8,000 steps, which is about right. I then waked to Asda and back, which is less than a mile. My fitbit showed over 23,000 steps which is clearly nonsensical. I`ve been at home since and it`s now showing just over 12,000 steps, which is probably about right. I`ve noticed similar jumps several times in the last couple of weeks or so. Any advice from dotnet`s resident fitbit doctors would be much appreciated. It should still be under guarantee, of course, as I`ve only had it a month, so it can always be sent back, but I`m naturally curious as to why it`s misbehaving. ![]() Not your average Sunday League player. 6. Author: GG Riva Date: Fri 7th Mar 2025. 16:51 buffy, Fri 7 Mar 15:27 I`m wearing it on my left wrist, Buffy and I`m left handed (10% more brainy than yer common or garden right hander, ken?) 😀 Is that relevant? On your 2nd question, I don`t know but whatever it`s counting, it shouldn`t be going up an doon, should it? 🤔 A big thanks to aw they other jokers for their most illuminating contributions. 🙄😜 ![]() Not your average Sunday League player. 11. Author: GG Riva Date: Fri 7th Mar 2025. 18:03 parathletic, Fri 7 Mar 17:10 Yeah, saw that when I googled it, parathletic. It said the fitbit measures hand movements rather than steps. It still doesn`t explain why the total goes down after going up. I walked into town (oops, I meant city centre) this afternoon and my fitbit is now registering just over 20,000 (steps?) after showing 23,000+ this morning. I`m beginning to think it`s not so much a malfunction but a limitation of the device. It`s not connected to a satellite or is it? ![]() Not your average Sunday League player. Reply |

15. Author: StevenPar77 Date: Sat 8th Mar 2025. 09:59 To be fair, I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that after doing any sort of walk/hike, the step count is erratic but then it eventually recalibrates more akin to what I would expect. The other week, I did the second leg of the Pilgrim Way, and initially, it had me at 68,000 steps but worked its way down to about 38,000. Post Edited (Sat 08 Mar 10:00) Reply |
16. Author: veteraneastender Date: Sat 8th Mar 2025. 12:42 Here`s a thought GG - a running stride is bigger than a walking one ? So you`ll record fewer of the former per kilogram compared to the latter ? Yes - I`ve had too much sun this morning !!! Reply |
