Pro artists such as Scottish colourists including Peploe and Cadell are my favourite. Recently I’ve discovered Janet Bell who paints Scottish islands and wee cottages. Her colours are wonderful. ”Buffy’s Buns are the finest in Fife”, J. Spence 2019” Reply |

7. Author: Paralex Date: Sat 24th May 2025. 23:15 I`m a copiest, not a forger, mind you. I did higher art at school and loved painting and drawing. Lowrys are quite easy to copy, but as someone else mentioned, I too like the Scottish colourist and have copied three Peploes. One still life with tulips and fruit, one woodland scene with contorted tree trunk and one French streetscape. I fancied a Peploe for my livingroom so I decided to copy. My favourite art gallery, in the world is the Musea D`orsay in Paris, due to its large collection of Impressionist and Post Impressionist paintings. The Van Goch museum in Amsterdam is also spectacular. After leaving Fife, I grew up in Glasgow, with the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum virtually on my doorstep, so I could pop in there any time I felt like it, free of charge, but I did get kicked out once for bouncing my football in front of a Rembrandt. Fantastic that our best art galleries in the UK are free and the National galleries in Edinburgh and London are fantastic venues for the art lover. Reply |
