Topic: Autism and Paracetamol

In his latest distraction tactic, after the Kirk hit, to try and stop folk asking for the Epstein Files being released, I see Trump is now linking paracetamol use during pregnancy to the surge in autism cases. The NHS have had to release a denial of this to calm fears.

I wonder what he has planned next- maybe he`ll want to round up people with autism and put them in detainment camps for doctors to do experiments on them

Yes this was a tweet from 2017.
Also all manufacturers must state that they don’t recommend the use of their products during pregnancy to cover themselves from legal issues.

Yes, the date is on the tweet.

I wonder what sort of "legal issues" they are worried about in particular with pregnancy?

Perhaps these potential "legal issues" is why J&J moved their Tylenol manufacture to a new subsidiary company called Kenvue in 2022.

Yep, seen this tweet about a thousand times in the last 24 hours, usually from Trump simp apologists.

AAPS is exactly correct.

So, paracetamol has been around since the 1800s and widely used since the 1950s. So how is it possible that paracetamol is causing autism when it`s also claimed autism has only become a big thing in the last couple of decades? 🤦‍♂️

Kenvue is just the consumer division. Are you suggesting that sticking plasters are a potential concern too 😂 Maybe spot soap is made from alien intestines and is turning all plooky teenagers into hosts for our new alien overlords?

I think you’re over complicating this message.

The key word is “recommend”

Not “do not take this”

I’d be interested if similar messages were/are put on UK paracetamol pamphlets in the boxes.

No.

"Recommend" is not a limiting modifier.

2017 : Tylenol manufacturers - Do not use our product when pregnant.

2025 : FDA - Do not take Tylenol when pregnant, if you must use the lowest dose possible.

Trump`s FDA seems more pro- paracetamol than it`s makers.

Donald Trump’s medical knowledge has been highly suspect ever since he suggested disinfectant orally for Covid symptoms 😱

UK Gov has had to put out a notice stating that paracetamol is safe for pregnant women because of that moron.

As with all drugs, prolonged use is to be avoided.

With a few more caveats than you’ve mentioned to be fair

What guidance has changed with regards to paracetamol in the UK?

I mean that when you’re in a position where you need to use paracetamol and you’re pregnant-the advice is absolutely nothing like paracetamol is safe just avoid prolonged use.

Been through it with my wife.

But the guidance on paracetemol (and other drugs) has always suggested limited use. It`s pretty much the guidance for ALL people to use the minimum. It`s like how we have to have a warning on packets of peanuts saying they may contain nuts. Some people have no common sense!
