Anybody had one? I`ve got one and it looks like it`ll be agony getting it fixed, but it`s already sore now.

I had one on my big toe, went to the podiatrist and was given 3 options.
1- Full removal
2- Partial removal
3 - Cotton wool stuffed under the nail to push it out and over the skin.
Option 3 has worked for me so far with care taken not to trim too much off the nail when cutting. It still feels a bit tender when wearing certain trainers but nowhere near as bad as before.

A stub of the toe or my kid brushing past and catching my toe used to send me from 0 to FFS agony in a split second

Had an ingrown big toenail when I was 19.
Tried all sorts for a few months but eventually opted for full removal.
I was told at the time by the chiropodist that it was because I wore trainers all the time that the skin on my feet has become soft , this enabling the nail to grow in any direction.
Not sure how true that is but ever since that day , I don`t wear trainers as much and I still have my other 9 toenails .
It does hurt after removal .... Not during.
Think I hobbled a bit for about a week until it healed.

Ive lost a toenail from a footballing injury. The pain was pretty bad when it was still on but when it fell off it was weirdly a relief. Has grown back fully but slightly discoloured which is strange. I cant imagine the pain of getting one removed mind you, sounds like a torture technique.

After breaking my leg had problems with two ingrowing toenails that became infected and needed general anaesthetic to remove them. Hobbled about as you need your big toes but was ok in a week. Removal of stitches were a nightmare because I have tickly feet.
Recommend to get it sorted ASAP as I left mine and somebody stood on my foot when I had them and it was a trainer full of blood.
