Been a while since we had a best chippy thread but anyone know if Armandos in Halbeath has reopened?

The only update I’ve seen was in the DPress in March. Mr Armando had a hip operation and had to close the shop then. Since his recovery the costs have spiralled within the business including the paper, oils and wraps. He didn’t want to pass on these rises to his customers. There was no date mentioned for a reopening but he was hopeful that he could.

Mr Brandi. I only know that, as his brother Gennaro had Gennaro`s at the end of Robertson Road, and he was Gennaro Brandi. Both fine chippy`s, both brother knew what they were doing around a fish fryer. True what they are saying about the prices, the cost of oil, potatoes, everything really, has gone through the roof, that`s got to be passed on to the customer

Just Facebook gossip but my understanding was he was choosing to retire. Real shame but a well deserved break for him!

Jim Jacks (Alaris) has changed ownership and there was a suggestion that it`s not as good but some say it`s the same as it`s been handed over to someone who worked there.

Marini`s on Aberdour road is now MarinA and has been good when I`ve been in.

You’re correct RSP. The DPress article had Armando Brandi but in a paragraph further down the page stated Mr Armando.

Another one, The Bay Fish Bar, was due to be sold, but due to no buyers coming forward the current owner has decided to keep it going - a big boost for Dalgety Bay and surrounding areas as quality has always been good from there.

True, Raymie. We are cousins and I can exclusively reveal (a la Chico Young) that Armando is not planning to retire but since his hip op he has been suffering a lot of lower back pain, possibly caused by him not walking correctly after the op.
