The Hollywood actor who appeared in such films as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and Tender Mercies, for which he won an Oscar, has died at the age of 95.

None of the tributes I`ve seen has mentioned his appearance in the 2002 film about a minor Scottish football club`s run to the Scottish Cup final, `A Shot at Glory`. Ally McCoist had a starring role but many less well-known Scottish footballers made fleeting appearances in it, including our own Andy Smith.

McCoist and Steling spoke about him this morning on Talksport, with Ally producing a couple of nice memories from the filming of it.

There`s an article about it on the BBC Scottish News website. As they say `the film is not remembered as one of Duvall`s greatest works`!

Was on holiday at Lake Garda about 18yrs ago and alongside the lake was an impressive mansion with electric gates.

On the entry system intercom was the occupiers name Tom Hagen, a wind up???

RIP Robert🥲

I don’t think he really cared.
He just wanted to do it.
He had a blast as well.

"A Shot at Glory" my guilty pleasure.

I think I first saw him in "Falling Down" with Michael Douglas, a film I revisited recently and is better than I remember it.

The Godfather I saw later and his performance is masterful.

RIP Bobby.

Anybody remember him posing with a sectarian Rangers scarf for a photographer outside Ibrox - a right set up, he had no idea what was going on.

Remember seeing Get Low get its premier at the EIFF which is very worth a watch if you’ve not seen it. Imagine would be quite poignant now

Falling Down is a great film. Simple concept yet brilliant.
