| 1. Author: OzPar Date: Sat 14th Mar 2026. 04:07 Since the closing of the Strait of Hormuz, the cost of driving has begun to rise quite noticeably. If the war continues, our oil stocks and reserves are bound to diminish. I thought it would be an interesting exercise to see how petrol and diesel prices have risen where you are since before the conflict began. We have a fair geographical spread, so it could prove a useful comparison for us all as time goes by. To start things off, I drive a diesel car (Mercedes GLC). It has been pretty economic up until now, but for how long? Before the conflict, I was paying A$1.79 a litre for my diesel. Today, I pay A£2.57. That`s a rise of more than 40% in a couple of weeks. How do things compare where you are with the grade of fuel you use? I guess those driving electric cars will enjoy this thread... Reply |

Fuel app shows a rise of between 8 and 10p a litre in the central belt since the conflict began. Prices had dropped over the last few months. The prices today are similar to those of the same time last year. They will go up further though. Reply |
| 3. Author: Dave_1885 Date: Sat 14th Mar 2026. 08:16 BP in Cowdenbeath was fairly consistent at 130-133p per litre before it kicked off - its now at 146p per litre and at one point last week was over 150p until they were called out on FB for it…… Pure profiteering from the fuel companies for now, as the fuel in their tanks would have been purchased at a much lower rate. Can see the prices rising to the same levels of £2 a litre that we seen in March/April 2022 after Russia tried to invade Ukraine. Buckle in folks, it’s only going to get worse… Reply |

Wouldn`t surprise me if some linked to the American government have bought some futures recently .... Some of the discussion on this podcast (and a previous episode) really opened my eyes into how money and betting can start to alter future outcomes now that data and influence has been democratised to the extent it has. Today, the Morrisons had unleaded at 141.9. That’s 2p up since I left work in Thursday. I can’t help but think there’s an element of profiteering going on from the Supermarkets and Petrol Stations on this. We all know the problems, but the fuel here at the moment has been bought in at the lower price and stored in tanks, so are unaffected by the war, you would have thought. I thought the increase would have happened further down the line. Loving You, Is In My DNA 🇾🇪 Reply |

| 15. Author: allparone Date: Sun 22nd Mar 2026. 09:27 Buster_Brown, Sat 21 Mar 21:16 It’s called Rocket and Feather pricing. Prices rocket when the price of oil goes up but they fall like a feather when the price of oil comes back down. It is profiteering and is seemingly monitored in the UK. I actually thought the prices would be much higher by now. Rising 9p a litre where we are isn’t as bad as I thought it would be especially when you look at Oz’s post and see how much the Australians are getting fleeced. That’s ridiculous. Reply |

The country came to a very rapid stand-still. Might now be the time for people to voice their anger once again? Reply |
