| 1. Author: PARrot Date: Thu 30th Apr 2026. 23:25 I think Billy the Big Yin is widely recognised as the best comedian. I think he is certainly one of the funniest story tellers but he frustrates me sometimes. I just watched some classic Dave Allen. I think he has to be one of the best. Who are your favourites and what`s your favourite offering from them. Might get a wee chuckle here. Reply |

He came onto the stage to huge applause, and then spent a couple of minutes in total silence, carefully peering at every corner of the auditorium. Eventually, with hands on his hips, he said:- "Sydney Opera House, eh? Well, I`ve played some toilets in my time..." :) Reply |

| 5. Author: Hoolie Date: Fri 1st May 2026. 10:33 The Big Yin has to be the best comedian. Some of his stories are brilliant but his acting whilst telling the stories/jokes makes them even better. Another comedian i have seen a couple of times is Jerry Sadowitz.....very dark humour and a fair number of people walked out after him talking about the Jews but he is Jewish himself. Not for the faint hearted but folk have to remember it is a comedy. Frankie Boyle is another i have seen a couple of times and dark humour. Never stopped laughing throughout his show and again people know what they are going to get going to his show. Paul Smiths show was ok. I like it when he starts taking the mick out of people but he just wasnt that funny tbh. Michael McIntyre....really enjoyed his show. Jimmy Carr... enjoyed his show. He is very quick witted and can destroy a fans heckle with 1 sentence. Seen Kevin Bridges a few times and he was very good with his stories. With Bridges you can relate to them when you were that age. Very good comedian. Reply |

I prefer Billy Connolly’s old stuff like The Crucifixion and Big Banana Feet. His description of drunk Glaswegians has me in stitches every time. | 13. Author: Dave_1885 Date: Fri 1st May 2026. 18:15 Do like the dark humour of a Jimmy Carr or a Frankie Boyle. Kevin Bridges been very good when Ive seen him, although last time was getting painful as he didn’t have an interval in a 2 hour set at the Hydro 😂 I do like Romesh Ranganathan as well - his podcast with his mum and celebrity guests is a great listen, as theres zero boundaries between them all. | 14. Author: red-star-par Date: Fri 1st May 2026. 20:46 Dave Allen, Billy Connolly are absolutely a class above anyone else mentioned here. I used to enjoy a bit live comedy, but it`s ruined now. Some of those moments when comedians would just go off script and pull out some classic banter of the top of their head and the audience would either gasp in shock or crack up. Now they aren`t as relaxed, aware that they have to really think about what they say, one wrong joke could be a career ender if someone takes offence Reply |
| 15. Author: Athletico Date: Wed 6th May 2026. 15:49 Lesser known comedians: Marc Jennings, Stuart McPherson, Mark Nelson, Tom Stade all really good. Seen all three live. I`m massive fan of Gregg Davies, seen him at the Playhouse for his `You Magnificent Beast` tour and was genuinely sore from laughter. Dara O`Briain was also brilliant live. Reply |
