Topic: Small Bumble Bee hive removal recommendations

Hi all,

We’ve just had our vanity walls insulated and before we git the house re rendered (cracks everywhere) bumble bees have moved in.

There’s not many but I’m worried they’ll be removing the insulation we have just had installed.

I know experts can come and relocate them - so does anyone have any recommendations who I could use?

In my experience, they leave after a while. Think it depends on type of species they are.

They won`t leave, they`ll be dead by the time Autumn is in full swing.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

It’s more the cavity wall insulation dispersal worried about… not even paid for the stuff that’s been put in yet!

There will likely be some bee keepers locally - worth asking local Council for contacts - they could remove the hive and relocate.

We had a swarm many years ago, the retired school jannie was a bee keeper, smoked them into submission and took them away to start a new hive.

Definitely contact your local beekeepers association. Not sure if they’ll move bumble bees but they will do honey bees if they are able to. There’s dunblane and Stirling beekeepers too depending on where you stay.
